Sweet potato pudding? Who'd of thunk it?

What is best for making pudding is not always best for a pie. One day I had the chance to taste a pie made from a sweet potato. The pie looked and tasted much like a pumpkin pie. I thought about the things that went into making a good pie and started to think about the things that make good pie also make good pudding, but not always. For instance, pudding made using chocolate is about the same as a pie made of chocolate with chocolate pudding in the pie. But a pie made from a sweet potato may make a great tasting dessert it may not necessarily make a great tasting pudding. You can make a pie with lemon pudding, or a pie made from butterscotch pudding, but an apple pie or a cherry pie would not be the same as a pudding made with apples nor a pudding made with cherries. The ones I like best seem to be best for puddings and pies alike, but then there are lots of pies that are not made as a pudding. So I Google search the idea of making a pudding using sweet potatoes as the primary ingredient and the results surprised me. Apparently in Jamaica, they make sweet potato pudding but it looks a bit like a cake in my opinion.
