Outback Steakhouse---I've been coming here since they opened but not that often. Nothing wrong with the place, service is usually very good and food is all right but nothing to make a special trip for. We had a $4 off coupon for lunch, was in the neighborhood and were debating between Mezza Luna and the Marina NY Deli---I know, I know, not contest but having the coupon and not having been there in a while we decided on Outback plus I am always in a burger mood for lunch. Allen had the $15.99 special which consisted of soup, salad, 6 ounce sirloin, side dish and a slice of cheesecake. All was good except he forgot to say anything about going easy on the steak seasonings which he had experienced before and thought was too much but he ate since he figured it was his fault. I had the Outback Cheddar Cheese burger ($13.49) which came with a side of 'Australian' fries which wasn't anything 'special'. The cheese- burger came as I ordered it---medium rare--had a good taste but was on the small side--for me! I, also, had a scoop of ice cream ($2.49) so basically I was paying the same price that Allen was for less. Our server, Vanessa,---excellent and a good sense of humor--had told us she didn't think she would be able to take the whole $4 off since Allen had a special which was understandable but she came back and said the manager did okay it. Good for him. With tax, minus coupon, the check came to $29.65 and we gave Vanessa a $10.35 tip, so another $20 each lunch which is becoming the normal now for full service restaurants.

Pretty normal unless you go to a diner.

Lunch isn't exactly cheap anymore . . . everything is at least double digits in price . We are a family of 4 - so yah, eating out adds up quick!

@GreatMartin We love to eat out too - but we really should try to take better advantage of groupon and such. For us it's the weekends - and as we're out a lot, it's too easy to have to eat out for lunch and dinner - which in the end means $$$.

I love to eat out and as it is even with groupon and coupons I can just about afford to eat lunch out twice a week!

I have a gift card for Outback that I haven't used. I rarely add anything to the entree, always too full for dessert and I prefer water to drink. Buying lunch instead of dinner helps stretch the gift card. I need to go because I do enjoy a good meal out now and again and Christmas usually brings in a flood of restaurant cards for me.

I remember the old steak houses in the south we used to go to. Mostly in Arkansas and Missouri. South? Oh well. Yeah they were called Ponderosa or Bonanza and they made the best rib eyes OMG

Nice that you enjoyed your coupons and prices at Outback. I had a steak there once and it was awful. I couldn't finish it. The taste was awful.

Yes, they go overboard on their steak seasonings.

Not bad! I've been there during the 4th of July with my cousin this summer for dinner. The last time was 4.5 years ago. Sounds like a good meal.

Outback is not bad, but I hate chains. I much prefer, if I am to go out for dinner, to find restaurants that are standalone and unique.
