Its time to think about treats, right?

Somewhere in the world its a good time to grab something sweet and crunchy. The photo that I share with you shows a tidbit tray. It was made in England- unless somebody lied when they stuck that info on its underneath. What would you place on the two plates? Little chocolates or? I've placed cheese slices on it and little cupcakes and yes, chocolates. I had it out of the china cabinet today cause we ate our first bite of fruitcake. I admit it. I help make fruitcake. This batch is very, very tasty- half a pound of butter helps in that department. Honey, grape jam, pecans, eggs, four kinds of fruits, fresh ground wheat flour. Dates and figs. Ooooh. Anybody else collect precious china and take it out at special meals?

I have a "modern" glass one - I have yet to use it . Yours is so pretty! I imagine something cute like little high tea sandwiches on it!

@andriaperry I hear you. I am making sugar cookies this year. Not frosted. Plain sugar cookies. No gingerbread people and no butter taffy candy, either.

I had fruit cake once when I was young. It looked so delicious but was awful My mother loved it though. The tidbit tray is beautiful! I would put tiny cookies or mini cupcakes around it.

@sallypup by the sound of it yours sounds more moist and fresh the kinds I'd had which were lumps of store bought grossness.

@shaggin It depends on what kind of fruitcake that was. There are as many kinds of fruitcakes as there are makers of them. Mine has real butter, honey and eggs in it as well as yummies like dried cherries and apples. NO artificial fruit gunk. Your little cookies and cupcakes would look sweet on the tray.

@shaggin No way on store bought uh, gunk. Doing that reminds me of the dollar store sugar cookies. Oh GAWD. Those dollar store cookies have no resemblance to home butter cookies.

It is the time of year to bring out the good china and put all the delectable goodies on them. It's been a while since I saw that type of plate, but there was always fudge and other goodies on it.

@just4him I wonder if the younger set will bother with such frippery? Your comment brings that question up. Decent fudge is scrumptious stuff.

@JudyEv Oh that is too terribly sad. I love, no, I adore your tidbit tray. It is the real deal. I've been sneaking peeks at English three tiered trays on ebay. I would love to have one but sure don't need it!!! Thank you for this gorgeous photo.

Yes, I used to but had to get rid of most of it as I now live in a very small home. I did have a tidbit tray like in your photo and used to pile cookies on both tiers and other delectibles. Sandwiches also when doing a tea. I love homemade fruitcake and when I've made it I always double or triple the nuts. Mine is more of a nut cake than fruit cake haha but I do put in all the fruit as well. I love fruit cake!

I am a lover of cheesecake. I'd put a variety of cheesecakes on it. Occassionally I DO buy a combo cheesecake platter at the store, and it is always so good.
