Who do you trust?

No-one - only yourself? So you never went on a plane and trusted the pilot? You were never a passenger on a bus, train or in a car and trusted the driver? When you buy things in supermarkets do you trust what is on the label to be what is really inside the tin or packet? Do you trust the weatherman? Do you really know how many things you do every day and are placing your trust in someone else when you do them? When you are using a pedestrian crossing, you trust that driver will stop? Is it possible to even live a day without trusting someone else?

Thats a tough question. Even those that are trustworthy can slip up.

Indeed they ca. I think we don't realise but just take so many things for granted even though other humans are involved in so many things that we depend on every day.

@Icydoll Yes but sometimes we have no choice. like when we take a bus, for example. The driver is usually a total stranger like the pilot of a plane is too

When I cross a street and I have the right of way. I have a certain degree of trust but I m cautious and on the watch. When I get my receipt after shopping, I always check to make sure it is right. Is trust a question of degree? .

I thinkit is rather a question of taking the plunge and just going for it. If you want to take a plane from A to B you have no choice but to trust the pilot, right?

@mysdianait Can I tell you a secret? (I have never been on an airplane and never will, unless I fly it.)

To a certain extent I think we have to trust ourselves first and others after.

We also have to realise that 'never trust a stranger' is not at all possible if we want to live a normal life. Good to see you again

I trust people, I always look for positives instead of negatives. Sometimes it's hard to trust people, but there are times when you have to do it anyway. Absolute trust? Not even in myself .

I think it is positive to realise just how many times a day we put our trust in others - even though we don't realise that we are doing so.

Oh - tricky question! In the situations you mentioned, ok, I guess I do place trust in them - but cautiously still. I trust that these people will not intentionally bring harm to me, but "things" happen that could still bring harm. But having distrust in every single person/situation/transaction that comes across our day would be too stressful - I wouldn't want to live in fear like that. I live in Southern California - I never trust the weatherman .

I think weathermen are so lucky. They get paid whether they are correct in their forecast or not I think that we don't realise just how much trust we place in others. Some are total strangers too.

@mysdianait I think they pick their weather forecasts out of a fish bowl . True. We don't even blink an eye about it - we just assume we can trust them. I do know I can trust you .

There's a difference between "blind trust"(trusting your parents, children or spouse) and trusting someone because you have no choice .in other words, you have to shop, you have to travel to get to one place to another.you have to cross the street to get to the other side etc... so you put your trust in the people who provide these services.

Yes there is a difference indeed but I wonder just how many realise that to be the case when we are told from childhood not to trust a stranger.

@mysdianait i never thought of it that way! We actually trust strangers every single day. i guess parents need to be more specific when they tell their kids not to talk to them.

I trust a lot of people professionally in the course of my life. For an example I trust the taxi driver who will send me from destination A to B in a safe and sound manner. I trust Doctors with their diagnosis and treatment and etc

You know, I have often been one to generally quip, "I don't trust anyone," but when you put it like this I guess we actually do put trust in quite a lot of people. Interesting. Made me think a bit on this one.

I don't really trust those people but must still live in the real world. I trust God. I depend on him to take care of me and if the food is not as labeled it won't hurt me and the public transportation will get me to my destination.
