It feels like the internet is becoming more and more negative.

People hide behind the fact that they are not in the same city, nor are they known by the person they are talking to, as an excuse to say anything. As a former school teacher, I was taught that NO ONE learns with only negative feedback. That in fact, negative only feedback actually creates a worse problem. I try to say positive things when I can. I also try to always say positive things to people when I also say negative things to that person. I worry that we are removing humanity from the internet. That we hide behind our anonymity to post horrible and nasty comments without every posting the nice or kind comments. We complain about technology delivery (such as MyLot) without taking the time to say thank you for the site. Let me start by saying thank you to the administrators and moderators here on Mylot, you folks have a tough job and you do it well! Am I the only one seeing this trend to negativity?

I think mankind has always trended negative. The internet serves that inherent trait.

It seems sometimes that it is getting worse.

When I see negativity like that I tend to only think of it as growing pains for that person. Everyone must grow and learn at their own pace. All I can do is be me. I try to remain positive and point out the positive and good. And sometimes show the sympathy I see lacking in others. I hope to lead by example only. I take it as normal and very human development..

That is very true - the only thing you can ever do is be you!

I see this a lot of the time. I think pleasant and nice comments are necessary. Nobody learns with a negative comment which upsets the person. I would like to say thank you to the administrators and moderators on My Lot. I love coming to My Lot every day that I am able to. I used to work as a teacher and now I am a carer for my disabled son. I learned catch them being good and praise. That works my better than moaning and punishment.

:-) thank you, I agree with your points completely. Sometimes the simple kind act of saying good job even on the internet goes a long way!!!!!!

I see it all of the time, not only here but on all social media. People will have their opinions, negative and positive. I never take sides or try to argue my point. I read without judgement and if I have nothing to add to it I scroll to the next one. If the post begins on a negative note I ignore it altogether.

That is a very good rule. I sometimes find myself reading negative stuff and getting frustrated. I should just move on!!!!
