A couple of weeks ago my husband, our friend and I wanted to visit the Christmas exhibition in the open air museum. I forgot to check the opening hours and we didn't manage to visit the museum. On Friday we are going to try again. This time I checked the opening hours carefully They close at 8 p.m. and we plan on arriving 3 hours before that. It gets dark around that time and we would like to visit the museum when it is dark because of the atmosphere and the lights. The Christmas exhibition consists of different parts. One house shows the Christmas decorations and traditions from 1723. Another houses focus on 1833 and 1927. The newest exhibition is from 1974. I am especially interested in the oldest exhibitions, but it could also be interesting to see the things from 70s. I was born in that decade, and there are probably things that I recognize from my childhood.

Me too. It is interesting to see the things they used in the past. The museum that we are going to visit usually has other exhibitions with old things. We can see the old houses and the things they had inside the houses. There are copies of private homes as well as shops. It is nice to explore all those places and I usually spend several hours there.

@Shivram59 That sounds very interesting. One of our historical museums have many old coins. I haven't been there recently, but I like to see the exhibitions. They have many interesting old things, and it is a good way to learn more about the past. One time I visited the museum during an event called Cultural Night, and they had a lot of different activities.

@Porcospino I,too, love to see ancient things. Last year I saw coins used in 14th and 15th century India. I saw an account book of 15th century. In Kolkata I saw some hand written documents of 1757.When I see such ancient things,I feel I am living in those tumultuous days.

I was born in 1976. My mother had a lot of decorations at that time. When I look at the website that belongs to the museum I recognize some of the decorations from my childhood. The 1974 section of the museum is a new thing. It is only a few years old I think. The rest of the year they have other exhibtions from that period.

@LadyDuck I like the idea of old decorations. My mother is sad that she doesn't have any old decorations from her childhood, but they moved a lot, and my grandmother didn't keep the old things they had.

@Porcospino Most of our decorations are older, because my husband brought with him the decorations they used when he was a kid, most of them are of the mid fifties.

@Courage7 I will try to take some photos of the place and write about it when I get back. I am not sure how the photos are going to turn out, because it is pretty dark. But I will try

It is very interesting to see the old decorations. Some of them are more beautiful than the decorations we have now. I will try to take some photos when I visit the exhibition. I hope it isn't too dark,

Where is this museum? A friend of ours was the director of a small museum in Denmark. It's in Rudersdal.

The exhibitions are interesting. The rest of the time there are other exhibitions from the past, but in November and December they have a Christmas exhibition. I think we will be able to go this time, I planned it better this time.
