Christmas party and visitors this past weekend

Friday after school for about an hour my nephew and my boyfriends son came over to play video games with my son. We headed out the door for our family Christmas party and the dog ran out the door. While my daughter and I were trying to get her my son was trying to get the door to shut. The zipper pull on one of my coats got stuck in the door jam and prevented it from shutting. It broke the zipper on my coat which I had only worn twice I was very nervous and shy at the party so I pretty much sat alone most the time I was there. My kids had fun playing outside with their cousins and that’s made me very happy! The food was amazing. The bonbons and chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting was the best I’ve ever had. I left so full! Each kid was sent home with a bag of chocolate candy. I had made cake mix cookies and when I brought the leftovers home I saw a half eaten cookie in the container so I had to throw them all out. Saturday as soon as I woke up I took a card out to the mailbox to send to Patsie for Christmas. I made “Just peachy iced tea” which turned out gross. I cleaned most the day and then around dinner time my brother in law and his family dropped by. Our boys played video games together. They are about 9 months apart in age. They live about 4 hours from me so we only see them once or twice a year. They brought presents for the kids and I. My daughter and son got clothes and they gave me the Cheese board set you see in the photo. It is so beautiful in person the camera isn’t doing it justice. Yesterday my boyfriend came and picked me up since we were supposed to have freezing rain. He has a truck and snow tires and it’s much better then my van in bad weather. He bought two frozen pizzas and some beer for him and apple orchard rose cider for me (I think that’s what it was called). I’d have preferred not to drink it but it was nice of him so I had two. We finally finished watching “The Haunting of Hill House” and he last episode wasn’t a very good ending if you ask me. I don’t really see another season being very exciting.

@Courtlynn I chatted with a few people but mostly when they came to me and struck up a conversation. I am so shy I just can't think of things to say to people. When my kids were little I chased them around making sure they were behaving and taken care of so I never had time to sit around like this. It kept me from feeling so nervous being so busy with them.

@Courtlynn yes same here. This was my kids fathers side of the family. They are very welcoming and friendly but I just am always shy. There used to be double the amount of people who went to the party but the past two years it’s been a lot more scarce. A little easier for me that way 25 people or so instead of 50.

@DianneN I am just very shy in general. This is my late husbands side of the family and there is so many of them even though they are friendly and welcoming I am so nervous. Only about half the amount of people showed up to the annual Christmas party this year and last year but it's still a lot of people for me to handle being around. The little kids were running everywhere in the small building. I was glad mine are older so I wouldn't have to make them sit and behave when all the kids were running around.

@Tina30219 I won't be getting to Aldi's or Walmart to get any cheese so I won't be using this for Christmas. Maybe if I get out before New Year's I can use the for New Year's dinner..

What a shame about your coat. Can you get the zipper replaced? I hope so. That is a lovely cheese-board.

@JudyEv I wouldn't know how to fix it. I may be able to bend the pinched piece out enough to at least zip it but without the zipper pull part it will be tougher to zip. I do have two more coats but I liked this one the best.

@JudyEv my mother bought it and it was just a cheap you $20 Walmart coat. Would cost more to pay someone to fix it most likely then to just buy a new one.

@shaggin There might be a seamstress or tailor somewhere who could replace it but I guess it wouldn't be cheap. Those sorts of things never are.

@KOLAMsegaran1 no one ever buys you gifts? I don't think they have ever given me a gift before so this was very unexpected and kind!

@snowy22315 it was a cheap but cute coat my mother for me. They don't hold up well so it will wear out soon from being worn. No real point fixing the zipper. I will just wear it unzipped in slightly warmer weather.

I love your cheese set, I also have one, it's very good especially for some kinds of cheese. I am glad the party went well, shame for the cookies. Can you replace the zipper in your coat? It is an annoying task, but it can be done.

@LadyDuck the coat really isn't anything worth bothering to replace the zipper. My mother gave it to me years ago and was probably a $20 Walmart coat which don't hold up long. I will just use it when it isnt real cold out and can be left unzipped. I have two more I can wear.

@shaggin You are right, it is not worth the cost of a new zipper and the effort.

@andriaperry I am terribly shy. Chatting with people online they probably don't expect how shy I am in person but communicating online is much easier for me. I can think about what I type and not get tounge tied.

@CarolDM the little kids ran around in this small building chasing each other I could have lived without that but since they weren't my kids I didn't make them sit down.
