Favorite Bands with Colorado Ties

You might have noticed that I am a very enthusiastic resident of the State of Colorado. In fact, that might actually be an understatement. Unfortunately, I do find that I am quite envious of the music scene's in places such as Seattle, Austin (Texas,) Boston, Athens (Georgia,) and Manchester, England, to name a few. That's not to say that we don't have a music scene, but it pales in comparison at times. However, there are a lot of musical acts with Colorado ties, and I'll be counting down my favorites. Some are native to the state, while others moved their operations here at some point. As I get ready to rock and roll Colorado style, I'll leave you with one of the final bands that I cut from the list: Christian ska punk band Five Iron Frenzy, who are from Denver, and are, frankly, bloody awesome. Enjoy!

That is one heck of a genre, Christian, Ska, and Punk. Love that. One of my favorite bands, 3oh! 3 is from Colorado. They are not everyone's cup of tea, but they are fun.

I've heard of them. Some really good bands have come out of here, unfortunately, not all of them made it as big as they could have.

@teamfreak16 I feel the same way for bands that come from Arizona. Everyone comes here to live here since we are close to California, but many bands call it quits if they don't make it because they want to get famous fast.

@DesirousDreamer - I just recently wrote up an old Pheonix band, Caterwaul. They literally got shunned in Pheonix after signing with IRS Records and had to move out to L.A. where people were more receptive.

That's a good idea for a series.

I liked the song but am not sure how battle dancing unicorns with or without glitter is Christian. Also, the term ska is new to me.

When they started out, they spearheaded a big (in the genre) Christian ska punk movement. They have kind of moved to a more secular pop punk thing over the years.

I didn't hear a Christian aspect. They just seemed like a solid rock outfit with a 90s sound.

New England has a really tight knit and vibrant music community that is completely underrated. I definitely need to get out to denver sometime though. It's my kinda place ;)

I actually have a series of my favorite Boston bands ready to go. Maybe I'll unleash it tonight before my hockey game comes on.
