Fragrant woodsmoke filled the air as Lalit dropped the resin pieces into the bonfire.He had scrapped off the yellow gum from the forest trees that day while gathering firewood.
"Look the star shines so brightly today,"Leela exclaimed pointing to the western sky.
The silence of the chilly night was broken by thundering hooves.The horseman drew up near the burning logs ."I go to greet a newborn babe,"he said softly in answer to the children's unspoken question.
Quickly Leela gathered up the rest of the frankincense and offered it to him.
"A gift from us",she smiled.
