Is 63 degrees Fahrenheit (17.2222 Celsius) too cold for you?

It is for me. We are going through a big cold wave here. Temperatures have dropped suddenly. I chose this city because I could manage to keep utility bills to minimum. The unbearable summer lasts only three to four months. Rest of the year is manageable. But now, this city is also getting way too cold. Unlike your world, we do not have heating arrangements as this is not expected. So it is truly cold at the moment. Summers can be 44 degrees Celsius or 111.2 F. What are the extreme temperatures you are comfortable with?

I wouldn't survive an Indian summer! We have 0 to 5°C at the moment but all houses have heating systems. We heat with gas which comes from Russia or Algeria.

We keep the Air conditioner in the hall on from morning 10 to night 10, and then in bedrooms for the night. Only respite is from 6 to 10 in the mornings. We keep it at 18 C but I think we get only a few degrees lower, almost 28 to 30 C. How long are your winters? Our dreadful months are March, April, May and half June.

@vandana7 The coldest months are January and February. But the winters aren't what they used to be. We always had snow when I was a child. Now we sometimes have winters without snow.

I like about 20 C. The winter months are quite expensive here, because we need to spend money on heating, but the summer months are cheap. We don't use A/C, it is not necessary. Right now the temperature is okay in our house, it is a little cold, but not too bad. I just use a sweater and a blanket when I am sitting in the couch.

Happy New Year. Aw...you would call it cozy? But perhaps I was feeling more cold because of the cold wave, and cold breeze on that day. If there was no cold breeze, I might have tolerated it.

@vandana7 It is very cold since we don't have heating system indoor as well as the northern places. Although we can use the air-conditioner to make the room warm, but it is not good enough.

Honestly, I am not comfortable at either extreme. As long as it is above 50F (~10C) and below 80F (~25C) I am happy. Below that low or above that high is inconvenient. Below Freezing or above 90F (~30C) I try to minimize my time outdoors.

@vandana7 10C Outdoors to me means a light jacket. Inside, we keep the house at about 69F (~19.5C) in the colder months and use the fireplace to take the chill off when we need to.

What are the temperatures I'm comfortable with or what are the extremes of temperature I am willing to live with? Comfort for me would be 63 to 80 degrees (F). And at 80 degrees (F) I am actually on the verge of overheating... I start sweating while standing still at 75 degrees (F). *shrug* I burned out my body's ability to adjust my internal temperature 22 years ago when I got lost in a desert. When I was found, I was suffering from heat stroke, heat exhaustion and sun stroke. (Doing that does allow me some benefits, if you want to call it benefits. I can be outside in short sleeves in freezing temperatures roughly half an hour before I start shivering. And I won't even shiver at that temperature/length of time if I am doing strenuous work. *shrug*) The temperatures here (outside) can go from 115 degrees (F) on a bad summer day to less than 32 degrees (F) in January. (My phone says it is 29 degrees (F) outside right now. It is 2:45 am here.) Yesterday morning it was 21 degrees (F) when I left for work at 6 am.

While I'm normally a bit chilly when it's under eighty degrees, I can always put a sweater or several sweaters on. We wouldn't consider turning on the heat when it gets down to sixty. But, when it's following the winter months, we may turn the heat lower but if we turned it off when it got that warm the nights still might be chilly or the next day. I know there are elderly people that will have their heat on a lot higher than I will turn it, but maybe they have money to burn pun intended which we don't. I try to wait as long as possible in the fall before turning the heat on. I used to enjoy it when it was hot, like nineties. But, my husband is miserable, so I've been working on being able to manage it around seventy without being overly cold. I always take a sweater with me though, just in case I'm in the shade or inside where the air conditioning is usually on. My preference would be between 50-80, but I live in the wrong state for that to ever be possible.

@vandana7 I'd like to move to tennessee, but that's three states from where I live and would be a good, long drive home to visit family very often. I'm hoping to be able to move there one day either for good or just for the winter months. But, that would be after I've retired and not running the business any longer and after the majority of our debt is paid off.

Where I live summers usually don't get much above 20 or so centigrade but winters can fall as low as -10 centigrade with rural areas further north getting down to -20. I'm fine with the summer temperatures but winters are a time for snuggling up by the fire!

Well we had many days of 5 to 7 C minimum temperature. And even during the day time(and even till now) we have had cold winds(sometimes very chilly) and some rains. A few days the max was 17 to 19 C and it felt like England. I even put some posts here. A few days back, I again got some cold and one of my kid too. This winter has made me a bit lazier. And some people do wonder when I wear a cap when it is sunny but cold wind is blowing.

@vandana7 44 degrees C is very hot in the summer. We go by Celsius here in Israel. In my building the owners do not provide for our heating in the winter or to get a breeze inside our home in the summer. We have to provide for those. If we do not provide for some kind of heating in the winter then we will freeze not only outside but inside as well.
