When life hands you lemons

When life gives you lemons enjoy them, don't just make lemonade, make some pies, jellies and savory dishes too. I use a lot of lemon in my cooking and i love this lemon plant that i have, its about one and half feet in height and always gives me 10-15 lemons.. in season the plant is bent down with the weight of its fruits.. I have had this plant for about 5 years now.. I started it out as a bonsai, but when it started to yield fruit i realized that is one is going to be a big producer.. so in the third year I planted it in a 10 inch container and this summer it gave me about forty fruits. no kidding. And just as I thought the season is over it put out new shoots and bang there were bunches of fruit again which are still on the bush.. slowly ripening. I cook the heck out of these lemons, I also drink lemon water first thing in the morning everyday. Lemons go into my skin care routine too.. Lemon preserves and lemon pickles are also a regular in my kitchen.. Though we really don't use too much lemon preserves. Lemons for weight loss went viral a few years ago and i think those videos still make the rounds.. So when life gives you lemons don't just sweat it out.. lose weight too..

Lucky that you make full use of lemons that grow in your garden. We too have a plant that yields profusely. The skin is too thick and they do not have much juice. They are ideal for making pickle but I am not fond of pickle. Shop keepers say they have no market as most buy ready made pickle I wrote a post on it a long time ago \
This photo is that of what we found on our lemon plant. This size is kind of freakish if you ask me. My maid tells me there are many more but not as big as...

@Nevena83 It should start bearing fruits the next season.. just feed it well in early spring.. and maybe give it a light pruning.

@sofssu Lemons, vinegar and some tomatoes cause an excessive secretion of grease on my face almost immediately after eating them.It has happened since I was a child so I just avoid those things or, in the case of tomatoes, put up with the consequences.

We have a meyer lemon tree . . . we inherited it when we bought this house. I love it - nothing like picking fruit in your own yard! We use them whenever we can too!

@responsiveme Can't you see my lemon bush picture? I can .. I don't care too much for lemon pickle but my husband loves it. LOl Hmm we seem to be doing the same things .. twins from different mothers i guess.. I use lemon rind for my hair removal wax.. the juice mixed with soda bicarb for my heels to give it a clean smooth finish,, A light squeeze of lemon juice in my face mask with papaya mash and cumber juice. I use a lot of it..
