Don't eat the snow! These days are not good days for snow ice cream. Back in the early 60s or late 50s, I ate snow ice cream falling down from the clear gray skies of Indiana. Yep. Those days are gone for good, but you can still enjoy ice cream. You can actually make snow or the stuff that is used to make those snow cones. If you try making it here is a link to a recipe for basic snow ice cream from the good old days of my youth. From Paula Deen ... recipe for snow ice cream. It's a real dream. Well, it's creamy and real dreamy and sweet. Just make sure the snow is pure and good to eat, before making this simple home treat, because, nothing can be beat!

If I'm going to eat ice cream, I'm making the real stuff myself. I made some banging stratiacella this summer. It was out of this world.

I never heard of it. I must be still living in the days of the cave man. I need to check out this stratiacella. It sounds very unusual. Wow. Looks very tasty. There appears to also be a recipe for soup. Here I placed a link to what I just found.

@lookatdesktop It is a fancy version of chocolate chip.
When it comes to stracciatella, reach for the best quality chocolate you can find, or else its flavor will be muted and dull when frozen. Make the most of that investment by adding a spoonful of oil, which helps the chocolate retain its crispy snap and tha

I have heard of snow ice cream, but never tried it. You'd think I would since we get a lot of snow here, but nope!

I used to make snow ice cream. I put a container outside and caught the snow. I was afraid to get the snow off the ground.

They used to do it back many decades ago and even then it was not the best idea. If you can make shaved ice from pure water then that is the only safe way to make it. If you have snow coming down and desire to make snow ice cream, remember that snow has chemicals in it from the air and from the ground and it should not be consumed. The same holds true for untreated rainwater. Bad idea.

@lookatdesktop I believe. I would never eat snow, I do not know why anyone would do it.

@Nevena83 , Some just think the snow is still pure. The air is polluted, so the snow is frozen water vapor and most do realize the facts of the matter, but not everyone.

I never had tried it. But I think I can make 'halo-halo' there or the local version of ice cream here. Image Credit: images.summitmedia-digital.com

That brings back memories of my mom. She just loved the first snowfall that gave her enough snow for a bowl full.
