But I got it 
I was fine until the evening of the 24th. Then I had that strange shivery feeling that announces a fever. The morning of the 25th I had a sore throat but it passed during the day and didn't spoil lumch. The following day when I got up I had no voice 
Then for three days I got through so many paper tissues and l kept my fingers crossed that from today I would start feeling better - and that seems to be the case. Hopefully I am over the 'flu for this season.
I didn't get here to wish everyone a Merry Christmas but I am not going to let anything stop me from wishing you all a happy, safe and healthy New Year. I hope that 2019 will bring all that you wish for

Oh no! Well let me tell you that one of our guests just before Christmas brought her kids - and informed me once all the kids were playing in my daughter's room that they had runny noses and hoped they wouldn't get sick 
. . . and then I got a text from her yesterday that they are all now full blown sick and hope that we didn't catch it .
Hope you get better soon . . . hope you had a nice Christmas otherwise . . . and a happy early new year to you!!

Oh that was totally wrong of your friend to bring her children if they were falling sick I hope your children will not catch whatever they have. That would be awful
I am feeling a lot better today thank you but not totally fit yet. It will pass for the new year I hope.

Oh no you too! Here our weather is strangely very warm for the end of December and that is what casued mine I think. I imagine that where you are is very cold so try and stay warm and hopefully you will soon be over it

@mysdianait thank you. The temperatures have been all over here. One day it is extremely cold and other days it is very mild. It is hard to know how to dress.

I have a different timing for colds, I usually catch them in May or June
.
As a pharmacist friend told me a not cured cold lasts 7 days while a well cured cold lasts only 1 week. According to his theory you will be fine for New Year's Eve !

I am still not over it yet Maybe I should have stayed indoors all of the time but the weather was beautiful so I went out for walks.

@topffer Same here but during the day it gets up to 8°C with blue sky and sun so that makes it beautiful. The only thing missing is the snow on the mountains here. It seems to be all on your side of the Alps at the moment. We need some over here too.

Yes I have been doing that but it is taking a long time to go completely. I guess it needs the spring weather to clear up completely and not the cold that we have right now.

@yugocean Yes that's it. It is not too cold here right now though it should be which is wrong too. Next week we should get snow so I will be here much more as Idon't leave the house when there is snow on the ground.

It is still hanging around too and taking a long time to clear up. Maybe I shoud not have goine out for walks but the days were so beautiful and I wrapped up with hat, scarf and gloves.

@LadyDuck Yes for January it is amazingly warm. We need snow and rain though or there will be huge problems soon just like two years ago.

No kidding! I have a chesty cough after this now too and if it doesn't soon move on I had besy go to the doctor for something rather than wait until it tiurns into something worse. Hope you are feeling better now.

I'm sorry that you got that "gift" this year, but I hope that you have healthier days ahead of you.
I'm actually fighting a couple of things also. I am having trouble with 1 of my ears, and have a pain in my left leg which I believe is an issue with a vein. It is sore. I will have to see the doctor for that one if it persists.
