Diary Wednesday 26th December 2018 – Boxing Day The post-Christmas Limbo period began today, with no transport, and just the TV and social networking for company. While Christmas Day alone felt fine, the immobility of the gulf between Xmas and New Year is dull. Diary Thursday 27th December 2018 I went out on the bus to get some basic shopping in, which felt nice, and the city centre looked deserted for the most part. Diary Friday 28th December 2018, Diary Saturday 29th December 2018 and Diary Sunday 30th December 2018 Three more days of self-imposed solitary confinement. I am still expected to job search despite the holiday period and as I expected, most companies are not hiring until the new year. Sunday brought me to the penultimate day of 2018. At least on Monday I am getting out to go drinking and generally socializing in the city centre. I have added my 2018 diary as a photo, possibly its last ever appearance as the next diary entry is going to involve shots of my 2019 desk planner diary. Arthur Chappell

So when do they imagine these job interviews would take place? New Year's Eve?

@asfarasiknow They'll check the job search logs looking for gaps - if they find them they can impose sanctions

I don't buy the excuse that no one hires during the holiday season. I got hired two days after Thanksgiving at BK.

@thislittlepennyearns Xmas & New year do see the job market drop until the new year - many companies sort out their tax returns at year end so new hiring and payrolls start in January - there are a few exceptions and agency staff can plug gaps if companies need extra help during the holidays but mostly the market for work goes down a lot until now it is January
