Can a cold shower taken just before going to bed help in getting sound sleep?

Since I suffer from mild form of insomnia and don't get sleep easily after hitting the sack, I always look around for some advice which will help me catch sound sleep at night. My friend suggested that I take a cold shower just before hitting the sack. I always take shower in the morning after waking up, and I have never taken a cold shower before. I usually take warm, and not very hot, shower. Will taking cold shower before bedtime really help?

I'm not really sure about this. Maybe, it is time googling or hopefully someone will give you enlightenment here. I hate the water being cold while bathing.

Good question, I do not know as well but in hot afternoon, we do go for a cold shower to allow ourselves to be refreshed and able to continue with whatever that we are doing.

Cold shower might hype you up a bit more but there is no harm in trying.

I will suggest you to get a warm or hot shower. It can help your muscle to get relax and promote blood circulation so you should be able to get into sleep slowly. If it does not, try drink some warm milk.

@amirev777 I always have cold showers. They are so invigorating and make me feel great and full of energy both in the morning and before I go to bed. I like them to be really cold.

@xFiacre I can take cold showers only during summer time. Otherwise, I usually prefer warm showers, not too hot. Yes, on a hot summer day, a cold shower can really be refreshing.
