Earning Something for the New Year

One of the practices/beliefs in my place is that people have to earn something even a cent to welcome the New Y.ear, saying it will be a good start to make one's finances grow through the year.
Some would sell something just to earn. Our neighborhood where we lived some years ago would sell used bottles, papers, or other recyclable materials to the junk shop man who goes around to buy it. Sometimes we sell fruits or vegetables, or do some chores for other people just to earn.
For me, I was so happy I had it when I reached the $5 minimum payout after some months; so I earned something to welcome the New Year!
Do you have some New Year practices too?

Hello!
No, I don't currently have any new years practices. I'm just happy to have made it to another year. I try my best to make improvements throughout the year. Though I agreed earning something to welcome the new year is a great way to staberlize your finances for the new year.

@acelawrites Well there is nothing wrong with that, and earning anything anytime of the year to my mind is a good thing.

I always do it automatically before the year ends; and earning something is not a requisite.

Speaking of new day earning, yes I also reach the minimum amount plus our pig gave birth to 6 at the very first dayof the year.
