My dog was an escape artist!

I have a fur baby-a three-year old japanese spitz. I didn’t know this until my father-his previous master, told me yesterday.
Tags, the JS, escaped through some opening below the gate’s bottom rail. And he did it in the evening. He would only return before 6am when my father left the house.
He always made sure that he was at home when father was around. When he slept, that was the time to leave and take some adventure.
I have been wondering how many friends did he meet along the way and where did he go?
But all this simply happened three years ago and his happy escapades had been put to an end when i adopted him.
I cannot let him leave without us.
Does your dog also do this?

@hereandthere he is but on a leash. JS is hyperactive breed. Also, he is very friendly.

My black cat is an indoor and outdoor cat. But she went missing for three days once. She came back home terrified. My other black cat went missing and stay gone. (I think someone took him.)

He is very clever. There are times that he tries to sneak out now that he lives with us be he cannot because i stay most of the time at home. But there was a time that he peed in our house and he covered it with some sheet so that we would not see it.

The most persistent escapologist I've ever known was one of my wife's guinea pigs. That little devil could get out of anything!

@ThreeTeddies really teddy. For years i had been fancying that. But when i saw how cute a long haired guinea pig, she looked like an angel, i felt so guilty of my murderous thoughts. Does it poop a lot of times because they keep on eating?

That is a clever dog. I had a dog but we kept him in the house and we went on adventures together.

Maybe it's time for a CCTV and a bigger wall to keep him out in my opinion.

Our puppies are so noisy when they're outside but they are not good escapers. Our cat is the good escape artist.

I'm sure your dog encountered many adventures along the way when he escaped.
I live in an area where my dogs need to be on a leash when they go outside so no adventures for them
