What was your day like in the last day of 2018?

My last day last year 2018 was a very busy one. I didn't plan it to be busy as we were only 4 at home to celebrate the new year. But some surprises awaited on that day for me. I had only 2 medium size Black Forest cake orders on that day ordered by my friends for their New Year's Eve celebration. But then the order became 6. I couldn't say no as one was our nice neighbor who wanted to try my German Black Forest cake and the one is the friend of my cousin who wanted to have a moist chocolate cake. Besides that I had to make a cake for my sisters birthday which I kept it secret so it would not reach to my sisters' ears. Another thing was, I shouldn't forget my own cake for us. We used to go to my sister after the fireworks on the eve of the new year because she has then her birthday celebration. This time, I went 3 hours with a cake and the 3 who live in my house before midnight because I wanted to stay at my own home as I seldom be on a new year here in the Philippines. Besides that, there would be no more vehicles to bring us home after midnight. My sis was happy because I brought her a birthday cake but when I told her I had to go home 1 hour before midnight because I have to go out of town the next day, she was not amused. Well, she said it was fine, but I saw in her face how not amused she was. Arriving half hour before New Year, my cousin, aunt and my niece immediately set our dining table for our own celebration and to toss for the coming year. We had a nice dancing music on and we let our 4 dogs and a puppy inside the house to keep them from the noise of the fireworks. We had a lot of fun though we were only 4 eating, dancing, singing and drinking. How about you? Did you have a wonderful last day of the year 2018?

It should be like that @jstory07. I did not cook much for the new year because we were only 4 at home. When my late father was still alive and I was here for the Christmas and New Year, we usually go to my sis home because of her birthday celebration after midnight. But this time, I changed it because I still have a masquerade ball in the new year which was held in the newest hotel in our city. I was supposed to be picked up at 10 in the morning. I did not want to stay up late until the morning of new year because of the said party. I have to rest as I was too tired baking the whole last day of Dec.

@ridingbet thank you very much. Yes, the food was too much for 4 persons. We ate the leftover the next days. Really? I didn't know that sour will attract a good fortune. The pomelo was fresh harvested in our front yard. It was sweet.

For us it was just a simple gathering and we just ordered our foods. We also hooted our plastic horns but no fireworks, because Father-in-law was in the hospital and my brother-in-law has to be there to take care of him. Plus it was drizzlng. The fireworks were only a few, as we watched some from our garage since it was drizzling. The drizzle made our celebration not a very enjoyable one, although we also enjoyed but not much.

I hope your father-in-law is fine now. There were not much fireworks in our town as well. It is better for me the way. I am always scared of fireworks when in the Philippines.

You were very busy, Ms. Thelma, but it looks like it was so much fun for you and the rest :) My wife was busy cooking on the last day of the year and on the first day of this year, we went to their home to have dinner with mer mom, her two siblings, their wives and children. In the afternoon, my older daughter (who surprised us with her unannounced arrival on Dec. 28) and I went to my home city. My wife had to stay behind with my mother-in-law because the caregiver did not report for duty.

My last day of December was tiring. After work, I went back to the apartment to get the gifts for my niece and nephews. Then I went to the terminal in Pasay going to Cavite. I arrived at 5pm and the queue was very long already. Thankfully, the vans were coming to pick us up. At 8pm I was already on the road with other passengers. And I arrived in Cavite at 9pm. It was the fastest travel I had.

It was still good to be alone with your husband on a New Year's Eve. It happened to me and my husband way back when we were living in Ireland. So solemn and relaxing @LadyDuck

Happy New Year! That sounds like a good time for you all. We celebrate here, dinner out, dessert here, watch fireworks, and finish off the night watching the ball drop on TV - all with close friends here in Florida. Our sister in law dropped by for appetizers before attending another party.

Its always the momentous event for my family. We went to my mother's house and there, together with my aunts and uncles and my cousins and nieces and nephews we welcomed New Year as one. We had games for the children and drinking session with older relatives. Then at 12 midnight we brought out our foods in one table and we eat together at midnight.

That is great @ilocosboy. We usually do that on Christmas Day and during New Year's Eve, every siblings and their families celebrate in their own home. The first day of the year is a relaxing day if not going to the beach.
