"Aquaman" movie review

Aquaman While I normally don't go for super hero movies - I did see Aquaman. It was a nice break from life as it has been around here, and Jason Momoa is in it. Did I mention Jason Momoa is in it? Now I don't typically go for the beefy, chiseled caveman style man.... but there is something about Momoa. I don't know what it is. So I thought, even if the movie isn't good, at least there will be some redeeming feature about it. And, while I wasn't overly thrilled, I did enjoy it more than I thought I would. ******Spoiler Warning********** ******Spoiler Warning********** ******Spoiler Warning********** ******Spoiler Warning********** Negatives - *Not much explanation between when the main character is a kid, into when he is a man. *Why is he indestructible? *The underwater dialogue scenes that show the characters sort of bobbing around in the water = lame *Jason Momoa is not shirtless the entire time *I probably missing the point of the superhero genre - but - rather unbelievable as a whole Positives - *Jason Momoa *Jason Momoa shirtless part of the time *Beautiful costumes *Fantastic artwork/animation *Willem Dafoe - excellent acting as the mentor Observations- *Aquaman's first name is "Arthur", and it's Arthur's mission to go find a missing trident, one that can only be handled by the true king. (seems like King Arthur legend?) So those were my thoughts, as I say I'm not huge into superheros - so I'm probably missing the point and I don't diss anyone who thoroughly enjoys super heros.... while it isn't my cup of tea so to speak - it was enjoyable and a nice break. Have you seen it? What did you think? "Aquaman" trailer:

Whoa! Jason Momoa shirtless is something to drool over. I haven't seen him in anything since Stargate Atlantis when I saw him for the first time. I drooled over every episode. Now, you give me a reason to go see Aquaman. I know my son went to see it. He is into superheroes. I am too, for that matter.

@FayeHazel I'll definitely consider it. I remember Todd. I thought he was cool for a wraith.

Heh heh, it's pretty sweet. I like all his tattoos and body art - in the movie. (I'm sure it's painted on). Hey I loved "Stargate Atlantis" too! For some reason I was drawn to the Todd The Wraith character - he behaved more ethically even though he was a wraith. Momoa was young there! Oh cool I hope you and son can go see it soon. I think it is best experience in theater

I think the main draw is that it is a super hero movie but what is super about it except shirtless? LOL

I haven't watched this movie yet but I heard it was good. Its special effects are impressive. And its director makes another miracle which spent less but still got very popular.

My husband and I saw it on New Years Eve we both liked it and would see it again. To understand wha tee left out of the movie you have to be into the comics they can’t fit it all into one movie. But the reason he can’t be killed is because he is half Atlantan and those that lived when the land got swallows up they got what powers they created that brought them down in. They did explained very little about it. To get him you over all have to fallow supper hero and with this not be a Marvel movie but a DC movie they tendcy to leave a whole bunch of things out. Boo in general fo DC Marvel has them one up since Disney owns them.

@FayeHazel Disney also owns Fox so when they took on Fox they got Marvel as well. They are trying to get rights to owning X-men by they are owned by someone else I can’t remmeber. They are in the process of making a new Deadpool and this one will be PG-13 so it’ll be closer for kids to see. DC comics isn’t owned by anyone yet and so when they make them they tend to leave out a lot of stuff but they do fallow any actual system. This is a close origin story for Aquaman I’m not to familiar with him as I can Batman and Superman but they want to do from what I’ve heard a Justics Legue movie so they where working on introducing all of them. Batman and Superman have theirs. Wounded women and now Aquaman so all they need to do now is Cyclops and Flash.

Ah. That explains a lot, actually. Thanks for the head's up. I figured it was something to do with him being part Atlantis, but.... yeah:-) I didn't know Disney owns Marvel.....

@ShyBear88 Ah there too I didn't know that Disney now owns Fox. I'm not sure where the majority stand on this... but it is sort of concerning to me, seems like a monopoly. A pg13 Deadpool? Hm. Not sure how I feel on that. I know a lot of kids wanted to see the first one. I know some whose parents relented and let them watch the dvd. I'm not sure - I still don't think the first movie is appropriate for kids. The Deadpool character - while I can understand the appeal to children- is sorta known for being R+ rated. That's a tough one for me. I don't follow the super heros, but yeah I thought that there was a "Justice League" movie out awhile ago. Wasn't interested at the time, but - if it introduces the characters - maybe I need see it

@FayeHazel If you see it again, you should see if you can spot him. I taught him everything he knows about going shirtless, and you might like it. If he is even in this one. If not, try to find one of his other movies.

@FayeHazel I liked it. It had a magical atmosphere about it. It also had a message out to adults too .It was nostalgic for me because when I went to see the original one I was a kid.
