Do you like historical movies? Last weekend, my husband and I went to see the "Mary Queen of Scots" movie. It was fascinating, exciting and interesting. When we returned home, I followed it up by reading more in Wikipedia about her life. Her portrayal in the movie was very accurate. One interesting fact which was left out of the movie was the grizzly way she died. I won't go into detail here, but it is worth taking a few minutes to read about her execution, which was ordered by Queen Elizabeth. For anyone who enjoys reading biographies or watching historical movies, I highly recommend this one!

@JudyEv - Yes, I enjoy reading history and seeing well-done historical movies ... which this one was. I also like it when women are not the after-thought in the history, but were actually the ones who made things happen. Either way, though, there were often tragic results.

@JohnRoberts - One of my daughters told me she had also watched a series about the women, which I did not know about. It is certainly an interesting series. Did the other ones show the details about Mary's be-heading ... when they picked up her head by the hair and it was actually a wig and the head fell out? I thought that was a crazy end to her life!

Elizabeth and her must have lived a very dramatic time when all that was going on. She was indeed a tragic Queen to say the least along with a few others before her and after her such as Anne Boleyn.

@DeborahDiane I don´t blame you it was like living on the edge of a cliff really not knowing if you could hang on for a day or maybe even a month. No chance of me having married him and I would not have been impressed by his fortune and all that goes with it.

@lovinangelsinstead21 - Yes, those were tough times to be in a royal family. They often had no choice who they would marry, and people were constantly conspiring to overthrow them ... and when that happened, they were frequently beheaded. Being born to royalty was almost a curse for many of them.

@lovinangelsinstead21 - You are so right. I would not have wanted to marry Henry the Eighth, either!

@DianneN - I think I must have been living under a rock, because I did not know there have been other movies made about the women, as well as a TV series which one of my daughters saw. As a result, it was completely new information to me, so I enjoyed it. I may not have enjoyed it as much if I had seen one of the other versions. I was fascinated by the historical perspective, which was all new to me. Yes, I definitely must have been living under a rock, since so many other people knew all about these Queens! LOL

@DeborahDiane They seemed not to be as happy as the man in the street. On the one hand, they enjoyed untold wealth and high honour,on the other would lost their life at any time.

@changjiangzhibin89 - Yes, being a Queen is not really great if you could die at any time!
