My best friend got married!

So one of my best friends got married! I went to her wedding on Saturday night. If you've read my previous posts then you will know I am not well at the moment. I will have to go back to the doctor because my voice has gone. It was difficult at the wedding because that is when my voice started to go so trying to interact with people was a difficult task. And now it's much worse. Sore throat, lots of coughing and no voice. I had a good time at the wedding and as soon as I saw my friend I cried. She looked like a princess. A very happy princess. I didn't get a chance to go up to her. This was a Afghan type of wedding. It started at 5:30pm but the bride and groom didn't come in until about 7:30pm. And it was going run til midnight. The bride and groom sat at the front of the huge ballroom and because whoever was speaking on the microphone didn't speak English, I didn't understand what was going on and didn't know if it was ok for me to go up to her. There was lots of music and dancing and foods I tried that I haven't had before. It was all so wonderful! I was sick with a headache soon as I arrived which went away after I took painkillers but around 10:40pm I was feeling sick again. So my Aunty and I decided to go as I was pretty close to puking. I texted my friend to let her know how beautiful she was, how happy I am and said sorry I couldn't stay for just a bit longer. I feel so awful I couldn't stay longer. I'm annoyed that I'm sick now. I wouldn't care if I was sick another time but it really distracted me at the wedding and has now slowed me down on other things I'm wanting to do. I haven't heard back from my friend yet and I'm worried she is disappointed. But at the same time, she hasn't exactly been the type to answer people back straight away. I actually sent her a video recording to say sorry and for her to see and hear me so she didn't think I was exaggerating with how sick I am lol I just hope she will understand that I wasn't well at all and that I was there for as long as I could. Which was a little over 5 hours. ****Photo is of the front of the ballroom where my friend and her husband sat****

@VivaLaDani13 I find when I am sick I worry about things. Did she go on a honeymoon after the wedding? Being sick is no fun at all.

@VivaLaDani13 I am curious why did she go away with her Mum since she is married now? Where was her husband?

I'm glad your throat is getting better. And it's good you're happy for your friend, for whom I'm also happy. But my opinion of "marriage" is a little 'disillusioned'---like Matthew McConaughey's character in GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST. I understand marriage as more of 'a distraction from all the unfair stuff going on.' When you're married, you're more likely to just 'mind your own business & do your job' (rather than constantly watching popular people to yell out an alert whenever they do something wrong that doesn't really affect you). I'm single now (1/6/2019 1:30 PM CST), and--tho I hope a woman will meet me and become my guardian when my current guardian (mom) 'gives up the ghost'--I'll probably only agree if I can continue living pretty-much the same way I am now ("playing" (watching tv, surfing the web, etc.) all day).
how Christmas and Marriage are both a) distractions from harsh reality and b) the only way to get through life

@VivaLaDani13 I didn't say 'it's good to hear you're getting better,' but I KNOW you're getting better. What is marriage for you?

@mythociate I didn't say my throat was better. I said it's worse and lost my voice. And that is fair enough. The idea of marriage is different for many people.

@mythociate You said "I'm glad your throat is getting better" But I didn't say it was getting better. I'm sorry but I'm a little confuzzled here. I actually said "And now it's much worse. Sore throat, lots of coughing and no voice." So that's not really a sign of getting better. Marriage is a nice thing. But really it's just a piece of paper and the wedding cost a lot of money. The money used on the wedding would make better use on buying a first house together or just saving it for the future with the one you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Some friendships stand the test of time or forced absence (illness can be one such type) - but your friend is probably still discovering just what being married means ;)

@VivaLaDani13 She surely will. Especially when she remembers how sick she may have been the following morning, if copious quantities of champagne were imbibed ;)

@moffittjc haha no it wasn't DJ! It was another friend who I've known for over 10 years. I went to school with her. DJ is alright. She hasn't been on here for quite some time but I feel she does at least pop in secretly to have a look.

@just4him I can't wait to see all the professional photos that were taken there. And thank you. It was annoying but I still wouldn't have missed it. I'm glad I could attend even if it wasn't throughout the whole thing.

Well I do not think that your friend is disappointed with you. I think she's busy with her honeymoon that she decides not to be disturb at the moment. I think giver her time to settle down to her new status in life as married.

@rsa101 True. Though to be honest I'm a little bit annoyed because I still haven't heard from her. Maybe she is still away I don't know but it doesn't take long to message someone and say "Hope you're feeling better." Or just something you know.

@LadyDuck Yeah it was so lovely. I'm pretty sure she picked everything out. Will have to ask her to confirm that. I'm sure she will understand too. Can't wait to see her again to talk about everything.

@Happy2BeMe I wish I took a photo of the whole room. My phone doesn't take good photos so I'm hoping to see the photos the professional photographers took. And thank you so much. I'm hoping I can too. Sooner the better.

@dya80dya I woke up with a sore throat and huge headache on the 2nd of January and thought I had tonsillitis but I went to the doctor and he said it was actually a bacterial infection / flu. So I have a pretty bad case of the flu right now. Lots of headaches, earaches, sore throat, nausea, coughing and lost my voice.
