Update on my sister

When my other sister called yesterday she said that Norma has a bad kidney infection which they are working on getting cleared up but sometimes in the past two days she had a heart attack and she had no idea she had it. It showed up in her blood work.
What they are saying now is that as soon as they get her infection cleared up and is able to travel, they will be transporting to the heart unit in the city where I are. They are saying she will probably have to have a pacemaker put in. If she comes here at least I will be able to spend time with her. We have an excellent heart unit here and I am proof of that.
She sure is having a rough go of it but she is a strong woman and she will fight hard. Her husband is quite worried about her so he called my sister to talk to her. My sister will go to the hospital today to see her and then let me know from there what is going on.

Oh, my! Didn't her doctor check her heart when he diagnosed the kidney infection? (Heart problems and kidney infections usually go hand in hand.)
I'm also curious how she didn't notice a heart attack? (I had a minor heart attack in June or July of last year. It felt like someone punched me as hard as they could in the chest. I almost fell down from the sudden pain. After Pretty made me get in bed and brought me some water and baby aspirins did pain start in my left arm and neck. I was really lucky. My doctor said there was no damage to my heart. She also said it was a warning to shed the extra weight I've gained over the past five years. I've lost 35 lbs since then. )

@Happy2BeMe The doctor had warned me, but I didn't believe her. (I've always been fairly fit, but have gained a LOT of weight over the past five years.)
Thanks! It feels good to drop down in waist size and I don't breathe heavily when dashing across the store anymore.
Oh! Yeah, pain medication can mask pain it's not being taken for, if she's been taking a lot of meds. (I assume she has been, since she recently had surgery.)
Edit to add: I recently posted a real photo of myself on one of my discussions, if you'd be interested in seeing "the real me".

Sorry about your heart attack. Good for you for losing weight. I know when I had mine the pain was terrible. There was no denying I was having a heart attack. I am not sure how she didnt know but she did just have hip surgery and she is on pain meds so maybe she didnt even realize she was having pain.

@Happy2BeMe She sounds like my uncle he recently had stents put in his heart because of clogged arteries and he still keeps eating the way he does.

I hope so too. The sooner they can get her fixed up the better. I just hope she listens to the doctors orders because she is so stubborn.

I am sorry to hear about one of your sister's health issues. I hope that you will enjoy spending time with her when she is transferred to your city. I am sure she'll love to see you, as it doesn't sound like you often get to see this sister. I believe we talked about my own family history of heart troubles. My cousin was recently told that she did not have a blockage in an artery within her heart, but I don't know whether it was a smudge on the reader or just what. She has had heart problems in the past herself.
Oh, and I am not sure what to think about your sister not realizing she had a heart attack. On one front, the attack must not have been a big one, but on the other, that's scary!

@Happy2BeMe Oh okay, wow, so pain pills can block the pain of a heart attack? That might explain some things about my grandmother..

She is taking pain pills for her hip surgery so they said she probably didn't feel the pain of the heart attack. A lot of time women don't have severe chest pain when they have a heart attack. I know when I had mine the pain was so severe. Nothing like I have ever felt before. I knew I was having a heart attack. Glad to hear that your cousin doesn't have a blockage.

@LadyDuck ok then that makes sense to me now. I know when i had my heart attack the pain was unbearable. There was no denying it was a heart attack but I also read that a lot of women don't have the severe chest pain like men do.

@Happy2BeMe
That must have been really hard for her to learn that she had a heart attack. I hope she can be closer to you so you can see her and hope it all works out.

We sometimes go round in circles with several medical things at once. I hope things improve for Norma.

I don't think so. I think the heart attack was not related to the infection
