The cleverness of computers

In 2007, when Vince turned 60, our sons created this poster-size photo of him. It is made of dozens of tiny images of other photos of ours. They used some software package to make the mosaic picture. After the party we were showing it to my mother would have been 97 at the time. We were able to show some of the photos from which the big one was made and she was blown away. Computers were a bit of a mystery to her. Anyway for some reason we left it with her and blow me down, she had it framed. It wouldn’t have been cheap to do because, as I mentioned, it’s poster-size. It hung in her lounge until she died in 2014. Now we don’t know what to do with it. It’s a bit big to hang in the toilet (that’s a joke).

Pantry? Well, here in Alabama we use that size of pictures to scare the crows fro out gardens.

Your son did a great job, it's a very good portrait. I do not know if Vince would have appreciated to see his portrait in the toilet.

I have seen similar photo collages, but this is special because it is of your husband. There should be some place to display it.

We'll find somewhere. We already have a painting of him that his sister, now deceased, did. It's nice too.

You should donate it to the local golf club that Vincent plays at most frequently, and tell them to mount it on their wall of shame. I mean wall of fame! haha That is a very stunning photo of your husband. Might be a good one to hold on to for awhile.

Good suggestion! Maybe we'll take it to Ireland and foist it on our son.

There seems to be nothing that is beyond them if you know how to work them.

What a neat idea, and very clever of them to do. Hmm, maybe in a hallway.

We couldn't believe when we visited my Mum and she'd had it framed. It was just four A4 sheets sticky-taped together.

@arthurchappell We couldn't believe she got it framed as it was not like her to spend money like that on non-essentials.

That's amazing. What a terrific gift from your sons, too. As for what to do with it, replace the frame with some concrete and bash one of those flat earthers over the head to prove you do exist.

That's a good idea. They sound like they need bashing over the head. Knock some sense into them.

@JudyEv -- truth be told, it would probably just hurt the concrete....

They had to upload a photo of him first. This is one (non-mosaic) we took when he applied for a new job. Then they loaded dozens of other random photos and the computer churned out this.

It's really neat that it turns out so well. The software needed a photo that we wanted to reproduce if you know what I mean.

Fantastic photo. No way would I hang it in the toilet. Our sons have many framed posters hanging on the walls.

We don't have a lot of choices for such large photos. I don't think any guests would want him peering down on them.

It is incredible how it's made up of tiny photos. The white bits are mostly this photo.
