Earthquake In Mississippi

Around 4:30 yesterday afternoon there was a 3.7 earthquake in the Mississippi Delta. One of my best friends lives in the town that it took place in. She said that she thought a car or airplane had hit her home. Her house shook and rattled and she saw her neighbors running outside. In recent years we have had a few earthquakes in Mississippi, but we are not accustomed to having them. As far as she knows there were no deaths, but a good sized hole opened up near her home. If a person or car had been on this spot it could have caused a disaster. I haven't had much time to be on Mylot. The new year has started out roughly. I hope that life will settle down and I can join you again. I hope to be able to at least pop in and out so I can catch up with you all. Have a great day.

I'm glad we don't get earthquakes where I live. Sorry that things are rough for you Marie - they are for me too.

I have experienced several earthquakes when we lived in Monte-Carlo, it's a pretty scary situation. I hope you had no damages.

That is one big hole! We have had small ones in the Chicago area, but I never noticed. Others did, but not me. I do hope things get better for you as the year moves along.

@Tampa_girl7 How are your mom and dad doing, my friend? I also hope the vision in your husband's eye has improved a bit.

@Corbin5 unfortunately the vision loss is permanent. mama is declining almost daily. Daddy is stable and still is pretty much my daddy. Just very forgetful and sometimes childlike. Thanks for thinking of them

I hope your year improves. We had a large one here in 2011. 6.4 I think it was..and the aftershocks were terrifying as well.

@snowy22315 I've never experienced an earthquake, but I have felt small tremors of one from a distance.

It's a bit close for comfort if holes start opening up near you. I'm sorry life is a bit rough at the moment. I hope things improve for you soon.

Goodness... that had to be terrifying! The closest I have ever been, is to have been awakened by the rattle of artwork on the wall at night. That was scary enough for me!!

Well I'm glad she and everyone is ok and there were no deaths. Glad nobody was out on the road where the spot opened up and that they can fix it quickly. I experienced some of an earth quake before but nothing like a real one.
