Why are buffaloes running from lions and other predators?

Hi friends. I know that this question might sounds stupid but why exactly are buffaloes running away from predators considering that those predators are much smaller and weaker than they are? I can understand why impalas or deers would run away from predators considering that they are small and weak compared to their predators but when it comes to buffaloes then I can't understand this anymore. Generally there is a herd of about 30 buffaloes attacked by a gang of 10 lions. Considering the fact that a buffalo is about twice as big and as strong as any male lion out there the whole herd of 30 buffaloes is about 6 times stronger than the gang of lions. Why exactly would you run away from something that is about 6 times weaker than you are. It literally makes no sense to me. On the contrast a honey badger which is a lot smaller and weaker than a lion is not running away but attacking the lion even though it is going to die doing so. Honey badgers have no fear basically. If honey badgers were the same size and strength as lions then the entire planet would be at risk and we would have to use military forces to fight against them. What is your opinion on this? Are buffaloes retarded considering that they run away from something that is at least 6 times weaker than they are? Or am I missing something here?

they are probably under the misunderstanding that the lions want to play a game of tag.

@Cristi_Ichim - maybe they aint got time to deal with lions. maybe if they run the lions long enough, they will tire out and give up the chase.

Even in the video that you showed me you can see that at some point a group of buffaloes came to "rescue" their fellow AFTER the lions already killed it. Well, why exactly did they not stand up for their fellow BEFORE lions killed it? Does that make any sense to you? It sure makes no sense to me to be honest. I mean will you go save your brother from an attacker after the attacker already killed him? Seriously? Shouldn't you have tried to defend him against the attacker BEFORE the attacker killed him?

Those that the lioness attack are usually the weak ones. Lion do not hunt. Is the ladies whom hunt.

I would tend to believe that buffaloes are smarter than people give them credit for. Size doesn't always matter.

oh when your opponent is at least twice as strong and as big as you it most definitely matter. Sure, when your opponent is only 5-10 percent bigger and stronger than you it might not matter, you would have equal chances but not when your opponent is twice as big and as strong as you are.

@Cristi_Ichim If my opponent had claws and huge teeth and was much swifter than I, I'd run, too.
