I found the above photo in an old frame. When I removed it, written on the back is a greeting to my grandparents ‘with love from Judith’. The message was written by my mother and the year 1951’ is at the end making me 5 years old when it was taken.
As I was besotted with horses and ponies, I loved riding on the merry-go-round and I always picked the ones with pricked ears. It would have been taken at one of the many agricultural shows that we attended each year.
I always had some wisps of hair falling over my forehead and my family always called it my ‘verandah’. This isn’t the earliest photo of myself. It was probably taken by an itinerant photographer.

What a fun photo with historical data. You could just walk right out of that photo today. It is a good one.

That is such a good picture. It seemed like you almost had a secret to tell. Your lips wanted to upturn into a bright smile and yet it was kept as a secretive little smile.

@JudyEv This makes sense. I was always a very shy child, I don't think it was easy to get me to smile for strangers.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We didn't go out a lot so I was quite shy too.

I really loved having a ride on the carousel although we never called it that. It was always a merry-go-round.

That is such a cute picture. That dress is looking so pretty and young children. Today's fashions have miniature adult dresses for kids

@responsiveme I had a book of patterns for toddlers' clothes. You had to draft out the pattern first onto paper then pin the pattern on the fabric, etc, etc. I made a lot of the boys' clothes when they were little.

@JudyEv I loved it the way they patterns would be seen in magazines or pattern books ,then cutting and stitching. Plus hand work like hemming and embroidery

I can still see the resemblance between that picture and the one on your profile. Such a nice picture to come across when life was carefree and riding the merry go round a whole lot of fun! Thanks for sharing this cute picture

@JudyEv You mean the photo itself the physical copy of it? Surely some of your sons would keep it or no they have all on digital?
I have a son that is no more interested in my photos than flying in the moon..no one to give them to either. Sad. I will be dust in the wind.
