Not The First To Call The Border A Crisis

I have tried to avoid politics here only because some people here cannot handle it. But there are times when one must be able to point out the obvious. As for the immigration issue... As for the ILLEGAL immigration issue... As for the statement by Shumer and Pelosi that the border issue is a "manufactured crisis" that all of the liberal networks have taken up as the "word of the day." Trump's claim that we have a humanitarian crisis on the border only AFFIRMS what Barack Obama said in 2014. We have a crisis on the border. Amazing to me how little liberals remember or pay attention to the FACTS. It was brilliant when Obama said it. But now it is manufactured when Trump said it. Huh?
Former President Barack Obama noted that there is a crisis at the U.S. / Mexico border during remarks on border security and immigration from the White House...

I agree there is a problem. I just don't believe we need a wall.

There is no better way to keep illegals out than putting up a wall. How else do we accomplish this? BTW, liberals were always for walls until Trump was...now all of a sudden they are against them. I swear I cannot figure you guys out.
Pretty much every major Democrat of the past three decades has spoken out in favor of tough border security measures...including border walls!

@porwest From what I've read, the biggest problem is people entering legally and then overstaying their visas. A wall won't prevent that. But I am not an expert on what "liberals" have always thought as I've only started really paying attention to politics over the past several years. . . and most of that was at the state level with Chris Christie and his attacks on public workers.

@NJChicaa Visas are NOT the problem. Not even close. 700,000 people enter the country illegally every single year. We do not even authorize 700,000 visas a year. There are over 13 million undocumented aliens in the country as we speak. They receive welfare, they receive medical benefits, they are in our education system...the costs are astronomical to keep them here and house them and feed them and care for them. 80% of the women and children entering are raped (that is according to CNN if you wanted to know). As for Chris Christie and public workers, don't even get me started. The average American worker does NOT have a pension. BUT public workers get almost ALL of their healthcare paid, they work 30 years and get a FULL pension, and THEN can work in the same system they retired from and still get a paycheck on top of their pension and social security benefits...it's a scam. Liberals love it, conservatives call it out. Do you want to know how many teachers are double dipping and making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year of taxpayer money? They retire, they collect a pension, then they go back to work and receive their pensions PLUS a paycheck. It's so ridiculous to me that no one really knows what's going on and yet make all of these people out to be victims.

The difference was Obama dealt with the humanitarian aspect of the crisis which many hardliners believe encourage more illegal migrants while Trump insist that only a wall will stop illegals from crossing the borders into the US. The effectiveness of the wall got debunk further when a border official showed Trump tunnels they discovered dug under these walls. Will Trump now ask for additional funding beside the $5 billion to build a wall that is not only 30 ft high but also 30 ft. deep to prevent people from digging under?
President Donald Trump said he is nearing a decision to declare a national emergency on the southern border, which he visited in person Thursday despite earl...

@porwest _But why hold federal workers hostage and bargaining chips in his negotiation with the democrats? Surely as a master deal maker Trump could resort to other strategy instead of issuing an ultimatum and then say "bye-bye" when Pelosi said "No". Let's also not forget he had two years when the Republicans controlled both house of congress and he still didn't get his border wall.

@josie_ We are talking about PAYCHECKS to compare to a national issue and a national crisis. Paychecks. Keep that in mind. Border agents are killed in the line of duty protecting our borders. For national causes service men DIE fighting for our country and our sovereignty and to defeat the agony of others. A paycheck is a VERY SMALL and insignificant thing compared to what we are talking about here. I can't even believe we ARE talking about paycheck. ESPECIALLY when every single dime of pay will be paid as soon as the government is reopened. Get the wall funded and built, plain and simple. And if these people are living paycheck to paycheck with the ENORMOUS pay and benefits government workers are paid...GET A CLUE about how to manage your money. There are way more people suffering far worse hardships than losing a paycheck for a week or two. For the love of God can people just have a little bit of common sense?

Trump has actually been very vocal about the fact that the wall is a place to start. The argument has always been, we cannot and SHOULD not talk about ANY reforms UNTIL the border is secured. Sure, there will always be another way. But the fact is that everywhere walls have been put up those crossing at those locations have dramatically dropped or stopped altogether. The walls make policing the border easier, more effective, and safer for the border patrol as well, and IF there are locations where tunneling may be occurring, this is not an undertaking that is not going to be a little bit obvious and border patrol can spend more time and energy finding those areas as well.

@allknowing I cannot understand why anyone would not sing the praises of Trump considering what he has accomplished. But some people are either deranged or just aren't paying attention. But it is all out there for anyone who wants to tune into any channel other than CNN. lol

There is video after video out there of not only Obama talking about border security and walls, but Schumer, Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton and throngs of others. They were ALL for border security and walls until Trump was for it. It is always funny to me how obvious it is when a liberal gets caught up in talking points and politics with no logic or reason behind what they say they are for.

It's amazing how it's okay for one president to comment on an issue, but when it's President Trump, he's made a laughingstock by everyone.

Yeah, it is quite obviously a simple case of Trump derangement syndrome. I SWEAR if Trump came out and said tomorrow, "Free healthcare for all," SUDDENLY free healthcare for all would the dumbest idea since the pet rock.

@just4him I agree healthcare is expensive. But it is what we must pay for the best care in the world. The alternative is waiting in line 6 months or more for a simple doctor visit because governments who pay for healthcare are inefficient and have massive backlogs.

Like you I avoid any political posts because they are usually so biased. But Jim, you are right about the border situation and need for a structure to make it easier for Border Agents to enforce our laws. Without interjecting too much opinion (because political topics today are so divisive) I'll leave you with the above observation I've made about many people when it comes to politics...

I believe it is a section of it, but the type of wall or barrier depending on where it is located are varied.

Trump is right, i live a few miles from the border and ive seen what open immigration does to a communitty. having california as a sanctuary state isnt helping either. with the wall ending near arizona, all the people crossing is heading that way. i remember people being fished out of the all american canal because they drowned coming across illegally, people jumping the fence or cutting into it. if anyone doesnt believe that a wall or fence doesnt help and that there should be an open door policy, i challenge you to take down the wall or fence around your home, and with it, take down all your doors, front, back, garage, and let anyone in with no questions asked.

I already knew this but you cannot talk to anyone about this, they just cut into this President like he is the first. If we search a little more we will find more before him.
