We've been offered a free cabinet

We finished painting out two spare bedrooms today and tomorrow we’ll be putting the furniture back in and setting them up ready for guests. Late this afternoon we visited friends who gave us a great number of novels. They have their house up for sale and are decluttering.
They also offered us a beautiful marri cabinet that they can’t take with them. While we’d like it, I’m not sure it’s going to fit in the only available space we have so we’ll need to think on it for a while and work out if we can move things around so that it will fit. Marri is also called redgum and is a beautiful wood. We know they paid a lot to have to paid but they say they don't want anything for it.
I don’t have a photo of it so here is another of a candelabra in the mirror box. You might remember my last post was of paper clips in the box.

Take it and figure it out later.

@FayeHazel @JohnRoberts We've measured and I don't think we have a wall long enough for it. We'll need to measure it again very precisely. Certainly I'll take it if I can find somewhere for it.

I'm sure it's beautiful. Sure hope you can find a place for it.

You should take it only if you need it and not want it.

@JudyEv My sis in law's house is packed with that which they got after emptying their ancestral home The house has more furniture than space to move around

@allknowing That isn't the case in my home. I really meant it is a big piece of furniture and if the house were empty there would still be very few places it would fit.

@FayeHazel That's one reason we're accepting. We are not doing someone else out of it.

Is there no other place in your house for the cabinet? Don't pass up this opportunity... Wow!

@Spontaneo We worked out we measured wrongly and we now have the ideal place for it.

These mirror box photos are great. I thought maybe you would put the new cabinet in one of the guest rooms.

I hadn't really thought of that but it's a good idea. I think it is more a showpiece though. The grain is really lovely

The cabinet sounds beautiful. But I think I remember someone wanting to declutter some. Hope you find a spot for it.
I like this photo more than the paper clips

@JudyEv That does keep you from fitting more in.

Haha, yes you remember correctly. However it is more an 'upgrade'. We would regift whatever it replaces.

Getting a cabinet like that for free is probably worth finding a place to put it.

@JudyEv that's disappointing if it's just too big and you don't have the space for it.

It is quite long so the problem is finding a wall where it will fit.

@Marilynda1225 You've probably read that we miscalculated and it will fit where we'd like it to go after all. So I'm really pleased.

It looks very reflective. Sometimes you can get good things when people move. I remember one time when I lived in apartments a guy gave me his vacuum cleaner, because he didn't want to take it with him..

Another interesting photo! You are really making the most of the broken mirror. I hope you can find a way to fit the cabinet or give it to a friend who may need it.

@1hopefulman Yes, isn't it amazing? I went to bed quite disappointed but today the wall is just that much longer!

Luckily there is only the one but it has five holders so that is more than enough cleaning.
