Beware of the Mob

This does not refer to crowds but to the mob as in gangsters. If you visit New York City you might enjoy taking a look at The Museum of the American Gangster located in the East Village in Manhattan. At the museum, you can get a look at anything and everything that has to do with gangsters. There are the bullets from the Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre, the death masks of John Dillinger, automatic shotguns and many different stories about well-known mobsters like Al Capone and John Gotti. The museum has found its home in an old speakeasy that was once the preferred drinking establishment of Capone, Gotti, and Lucky Luciano. Today at the bar you can buy moonshine and other drinks from that era. Do you like to watch movies about mobsters?

I visited it years ago, and also visited Alcatraz. We had dinner with our sons at Sparks just after Big Pauly Costilano got gunned down on the sidewalk in front. Yes, I'm fascinated by mobsters. My brother-in-law had a business in the garment industry, and was approached by the Mafia. He had to pay them a monthly fee for "protection"!

You are lucky you were there before he got gunned down a scene I would not like to see every @DianneN I had a similar experience in Riga, Latvia. There was a restaurant run by the Russian mob. I had lunch with a friend and the next day a mobster was gunned down at an outside table.

@RasmaSandra We were there after the shoot out. My boys were fascinated and mesmerized by the sidewalk, although everything was cleaned up by then. You are lucky, too. Timing is everything. The Russian mob sounds just as bad as the Mafia.

I usually don't watch movies about gangsters. I prefer science fiction and romantic comedies.

I love movies and TV shows about gangsters. Boardwalk Empire is one of my all-time favorite shows. But not just fiction, I love the documentaries and museums, too.

@JohnRoberts I haven't been since 1999 and still have photos of me and my late husband on top of the WTC. Guess it was fate that saved us.
