This, that and the other

A medley of things to mention today. We’re going into the city this evening to a dinner to celebrate the 50th birthday of our nephew so we’re looking forward to that. We haven’t eaten out for ages.
We’re finished painting the two bedrooms and will soon have them back to normal. I was trying to clean the hardened paint off the electric paint stirrer with a screwdriver and my hand slipped and now there is blood under my thumbnail. With luck, I’ll have a black nail to show off in a day or two.
I wrote about being offered a magnificent wall unit for free. Last night we went to bed thinking we’d have to say ‘no’ as we didn’t have a long enough wall to put it against. This morning we remeasured and it will fit after all – and in the particular place where we thought it would look best.
We will offer them something for it as it cost them a lot of money. If they are adamant about giving it to us, we’ll pay something towards a charity either of their choice or ours.
Next week we’ll need to get our skates on to get ready for the concert.
The photo is of the wall unit we have in the hallway.

@JudyEv I have measured several times in the past and still had to change my plan a little to make something work. My favorite one time was when hubby told me something would not fit in the closet we had in the double wide. He had measured and I had too. When he came home from work the big dresser was in the closet It just fit where I wanted it.

@wolfgirl569 You wonder how you could get it wrong when it happens.

Would you believe we measured the area wrongly? That's must be why they say measure twice and cut one. We always measure twice anyway but maybe we need to start measuring three times.

This wall unit is cool with all those majestic horses. Please take care of your hand. I have also got a minor bruise while trying to drill the coconut shells and scrap them with sandpaper for a craft work.
Wishing your nephew a healthy and happy life. Enjoy your day.

@arunima25 I have a Band-Aid on it. It is a bit tender but will be okay. Thanks for asking.

Old is gold, Your unit looks ancient and such sturdy units are not available these days. We have one brought from the house that belonged to my in laws. That property is sold and my husband was the executor of the will.

That wall unit with horses is just made for you. Did you'll chance upon it or did you get it made to order?

This is a beautiful piece. Not sure it would fit here though in our place without taking up the whole space.

I really like that "hutch" in the picture,, the carving is attractive. I have several wall units in my living room that I plan on replacing in the future, they are just not my style. (they came with the house)

A lovely hutch. The horses are a nice touch. I love all kinds of little treasures so after a while, they seem to just grow on my shelves. Glad you had space for it.

It looks beautiful, with all those horses as adornment. You can use it in so many ways, as decor for a room and for storing your valuables.

It is near the front door and has all our photo albums in the cupboard at the bottom. If there is ever a big fire, we can grab the albums and run.

I had to sell my hutch before I could move back to Ohio, I've had it for many years and always loved it but there was not anyplace in the house I could put it. In the other houses I had a dining room and dining area that it fit. My mother in law passed it along to us and she called it a dish cupboard. My father in law and husband called it a hutch. I used both terms interchangeably and never was misunderstood as to what I was referring to.

We'd call it a wall unit here. I haven't heard the term hutch for years but it was used a lot once.
