We watched a great movie last night... It was called "The Man Who Invented Christmas... I just looked it up and it's been out since 2017 but darling daughter decided that we were going to have a Mother/Daughter night together with a movie that she thought that I would like! Loved Christopher Plummer in it!! He made the perfect Scrooge. Now Charles Dickens was a big surprise. I guess that I never thought of him as a young man and loved the little Irish girl. I think that her name was Tara! We had popcorn and hot chocolate together and it was a great night. Hubby was otherwise occupied so we got to watch something that I don't think he wouldn't have chosen! ;) Photo credit... bleeckerstreetmedia

Wow! I love this movie and watched it 3 times already. Actually, it`s not only an amazing Christmas spirit movie but a big pleasant surprise for all Dickens fans. It let us look at Charles Dickens not only as a gifted famous author of all times but as a human with broad philanthropic views, human with his own weaknesses, shattered dreams and sad past, which have their strong influence on all his life.

That surprised me most about this movie... I never once wondered how Charles Dickens became the man... he became!!

@Hate2Iron True. That life full of hardships and desperate eagerness to become someone significant made him that person we cherish and remember still now.

Well I am glad you have a good little mother / daughter day. I do love Charles Dickens. I don't think I've seen that movie but I am pretty sure I saw it on amazon...

@Hate2Iron I have no children, but I understand it from the perspective of an aunt. I see my nephew all the time (every weekend) but there was half a year when he didn't come around. I don't ever see his sister.

I'm glad that we spent the evening together. When they get older, you do it less and less!!

We read several Charles Dickens books during our English lessons back in time.

The odd thing is that I never ever thought of Charles Dickens as a young man... and certainly not the way the movie protrayed him!!

I'm glad you had a great movie night with your daughter. Christopher Plummer is a good actor so I expect it would be a good movie.
