My Facebook Peeve

I love Facebook as a place to check up on my friends and family. Most of them are there. I do have some peeves. I hate things that people post without checking on them. The main one is missing children. People post photos of kids that were found safe a year or two ago. Or, some tragic ones where the child is deceased. Also, links that don't work, hoaxes that have been going around for years, and other time wasters. Those are some things I hate about Facebook. Do you have any peeves about it? What do you like or not like about Facebook?

I've pretty much unfriended people who use vulgar language, so the people I'm friends with are decent and so are their posts.

Yes, that is the way to go. However, if you read comments about news and politics, the language gets pretty raunchy.

I don't like the fact that Facebook asks for my phone number.

I did not give them my phone number. They don't need it. It is none of their business.

@enlightenedpsych2 I don't know why they want it. They could sell it for scam and spam for all I know.

@enlightenedpsych2 he said our accounts were secure and sold our information to six different places. How do I know he won't sell my phone number?

@akalinus I am very upset when they propose our profile suggesting to add us as friend to unknown people.

@LadyDuck Me too. Where do they get the idea that we know those people? Even worse, we might know them and not want to be friends with them. They were after me for a long time to be friends with someone we suspected of setting multiple fires in our park.

I just limited past posts. I don't know what people see on my public page anymore because I can find the 'view as" section. I guess they did away with it.

I like FB because it keeps me connected with friends and family, I don't care for all the drama at times. People will start arguing on their timeline with somebody.

I don't like the arguing either. I quit FishWorld because of all the drama and people accusing each other of things. I don't do arguments on there anymore.

I only have close family and friends on mine. I keep it private and so far only one post some drama here and there. She is a bit immature for her age so we usually just pass on those type of posts she does.

Yes!!!! I'll quickly check the actual status on those and then comment right there that they've been found, have passed, the company doesn't actually have that policy, that employee was already fired...whatever it is. Also...I cannot stand the "if you care about ______ you'll share this." If you honestly think that I don't care because I don't share it then go ahead and judge me. I passed Kindergarten a really really long time ago, I'm past that mentality.

I don't like that either. In fact, it really aggravates me. I hate cancer but it won't help anyone by posting it on my site. It won't bring better care and it won't help cure anyone.

I know the feeling. I don't like people making a mess of my pages. I put it so I have to review them and decide whether to post them.

If I used FB this would drive me crazy too. As it is, it drives Vince crazy. He is always telling me about some hoax that is reappearing.

There are hoaxes that have gone on for years and people keep posting them. Even when I tell them it is a hoax, they don't believe it. Some are charging for Facebook, legal notices, share this photo of a sick child and FB will donate money, share to win a house, a computer, a camper, etc. It just never ends.

eh, i haven't used facebook in 4 years and i've felt a lot better. too much family drama for me, though it was good to see pictures of family that live far away. but that's the internet for you, not everyone pays attention to what they're posting

That is the truth. I have heard some medical dramas on there. Everything from day one with a description of the pain and misery and a blow by blow account of it all. I have to be sympathetic and caring even though I might not be feeling that great myself. I would never put it on FB.

I have liked facebook ever since I signed up to.(It's been 11 years already :O ) However the recent enhancements like "Facebook Story" which is a feature that other social medias have, somehow made it lost its originality. As the way I see it's not a wise move for Fb. So far it's bearable, but I don't care if somebody share their mini stories. ugh they're annoying :(

I keep forgetting about the 'story' part and hardly ever put anything in there. I don't like thinking my info might be sold to the highest bidder. I did a search and found my photos on a public forum. It made me mad because they are mine but anyone can steal them now. I have to delete them all after I send them to my email. Makes me very upset. The photos were nothing personal, mostly trees, flowers, etc. But I take them to illustrate articles and it makes me mad.

@akalinus Oh my God that's horrible! I don't know what is going on with people who steal photos from others. You know that is so concerning. What if somebody steals our photos to create fake profile to tease others? I would be mad as well. I think we have to be cafeful with what sorf ot people we accept as friends on facebook.
