While dusting the books in our library, I found a booklet about funny facts and trivia.
I peeked through the pages and I found some that I want to share with you:
- Banana fruits are curve, because they grow toward the sun and not toward the ground.
- A group of crows is called "a murder of crows"
- Snakes can sense an earthquake up to 5 days before it happens.
- After he died, the inventor of Frisbee (Pluto Platter) was cremated and made into a Frisbee.
- Honey bees are capable to recognize human faces.
- Seamen and pirates wore earrings because they thought they improved their eyesight.
Do you know some interesting uncommon facts?

@LadyDuck too bad we're not as small and move fluidly as snakes to be able to follow them

I have been eating bananas for many years and never ever wondered why they were curved. I just accepted it and enjoyed eating them.

@JudyEv They are carrying on these researches in India in an area where there are frequent small earthquakes. They have set up cameras and they monitor what the snakes do. They have noticed that every time there is even a small quake, they get out from their hiding place and they all move away.

Interesting facts. I wonder if snakes react in any way to earthquakes. They must do something..because otherwise how would researchers know they were "sensing the earthquake."

wow. your library books and shelves look almost the same as i had when i had my own house i was buying. it's wonderful. i did not know bananas grew pointing up ward , thought they hung down. and as for the bees, maybe that is why they would not sting my dad. he said it was because they could smell if you had fear of them. he would pick them up and put them all over him with bare hands and arms etc.
i know that an owl never defecates from behind like other creatures and us it digests the food and comes right back out the beak. yuck. i was surprised when i heard that.

@LadyDuck i guess we will never know if it is bees sight or smell being why some they don't sting. they still stung me a few times but i think you and my dad must just be some special people.

@bunnybon7 I have read some articles and I am not totally convinced that they can recognize people. I know that they do not sting me, they stay around going from flower to flower while I work outside.

@marguicha The dangerous snakes are up in the mountains, those that live in the gardens are not venomous. I try not to meet them, because I do not like snakes.

I have to say that I hate snakes, I cannot stand to see them, it's a phobia. Anyway I do not kill the two that are in my garden, they are not venomous and they eat slugs and small insects. I will keep an eye on them... right now they are both hibernating.
