Weekend With the Nephew

This weekend my 13 year old nephew came over to our home to stay with us. I've known him since he was about 4 years old, and it's always surreal to me how much he has grown. He is now taller than I am and such a good kid. At least, he is a good kid when he is visiting with me and Jay! LoL. We had a good time watching movies, playing video games and just hanging out. He helped Jay in the garage setting up his new tool chest and played on his scooter in our quiet cul-de-sac. It was nice to have him over. I'm not big on having people spend the night, but with my nephew, I don't mind at all. It was his birthday recently, and he told me he is going to save all his money until he is 16 so he can buy himself a truck when he learns to drive ... I hope he actually does this. If he does, he is already better at saving money than I am! LoL. (Photo is of the view of the back of my house, in the evening.)

If he does that he is a lot better than me too. My first car was with a coupon weekly payment thing. I was so happy when I reached the last coupon to tear off and relished the moment. Well, now with credit cards its the same thing you pay a little or pay in full but you get what you need. Today's children sure are more mature than we were.

@MissNikki I ride the bus only now, and relinquished my license in 2013...sold my used car and never looked back. My health plan has transportation, so I am lucky. My cousins who was helping me with my Mother, for the last 2 years of her life she got weaker, so bus riding was no longer an option carted her and me to help her everywhere.... Now my other relatives are getting weaker and need my cousins, so they are not to available for me...lucky UHCC has trans. services! Good luck in your new adventure for learning to drive.

Soon that will be me since my brother will be a dad soon. Although it may take a few years for his kid to be able to sleep over but hey, it will happen. I hope he enjoys it just like you guys. We´ll just have to wait and see if he even would ever like sleep overs.

I know, right!? I don't think I was thinking about money at all when I was his age. I told him to keep saving and he will be better off than all of us. LoL

@MissNikki I love how your house has a lot of trees / plants etc. Just love all the green there! Your nephew seems awesome and I hope he can save that money too. An early start with saving money is really good.
