We all know who Robert DeNiro is. Hey, a Bananarama song that is not a cover. “Robert DeNiro’s Waiting” was written by the girls (Keren Woodward, Sara Dallin, Soibhan Fahey) and their producers Jolley & Swain for their self titled second album. According to the girls, the song is about date rape which does not seem apparent from the lyrics. It seems like they want to rush home to watch a Robert DeNiro movie where he is “talking Italian.” The video does have a skulking Mafia hood type. Bananarama is the biggest selling all girl group ever in the UK and “Robert DeNiro’s Waiting” charted at UK #3. The song barely got a Billboard pulse at #95 but plenty of alternative radio airplay.
