My therapist told me that anxiety and depression can't be cured

I am so sad because my therapist told me that anxiety and panic attacks aren't curable. She told me that anyone who says otherwise lies. Why am I cursed with this awful illness? No one understands my problem. I am feeling very alone. And I am cursed with anxiety and panic disorder as long as I will live. This is such a bad news. I will never work. I will not have my own money. It's a hell living with such disorders. And I can't believe that they are not curable. What do you think? Are depression, panic attacks and anxiety curable?

They may not be "cureable" but as @FourWalls said, they are manageable. If your therapist isn't helping you find ways to manage it, then maybe it's time for a new therapist.
As for working, you may not be able to work in the real world but there are online opportunities that you might be able to discover. Depending on your level of anxiety, you might also be able to walk people's dogs, rake leaves etc for a little bit of money.

@dya80dya I didn't suggest walking people's dogs as a way to manage your anxiety. Are you saying that walking around would cause you more anxiety? I suggested trying to find things that people could pay you for. Raking leaves, doing other yard work, taking care of pets etc.
As for spending all day online, every country is different but there are earning opportunities that pay more than just pennies.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Most earning opportunities are in the USA. In my country there are a few sites that pay more, but they are scams. Walking around cause me more anxiety because I have a fear of open spaces.

I think you can cure that on your own. Just believe in yourself that you can fight anxiety and depression then it can. It`s all up to you

She should never say that anything is uncurable although there are a lot here that say the same thing too in this country.
There are so many therapies out there as well.
I hope you can find one that will help you.

She clearly doesn't know my Father then. My God is above any disease and He can heal you -in His time. I am praying-dont give up hope! You are not alone.
Maybe look for side gigs you can do also instead of a full time job. Are you really good at something? Good with animals? Photography? Cleaning houses? Building things? Crafting? All of these can be used for side income.

@dya80dya Awesome! You can pet sit, groom animals, or just take them for walks to make an income of some sort.

@LovingMyBabies I am housebound. I can't take them for walks. And people here don't afford to pay for this.

Well it’s all in your head. Depression is caused by overthinking of our failures, disappointments, frustrations with anyone or anything, i had gone through that too. You know what i did? I tried to focus on the good things i had had on the fact that God Jehovah still waked me up. I tried to find solutions to my problems. Never let problems dwell longer in your head. Think of positive things.

Not “curable,” but manageable. VERY manageable. Hang in there.

They certainly are, in the sense they can be managed . You should be comfortable with your therapist

I agree with it is not going away that is for sure in many cases you are not alone in this.
I understand.
But I do not listen to the therapists that tell me what to think. I try to find ways for myself to help me.
I hope you can too Dya.

I think they are curable. If you divert your mind on some other activities then I think this is possible. Some medicines are also there to cure such problems as one of my friend is slso going through such problems from last January. Now she is in better condition than before.

For illnesses such as this surely the cure must come from within although medications and support can help with the symptoms. Find another therapist!

I was told that both my anxiety and my depression were treatment resistent. I have had therapists who told me that I would never get better and I had to learn to accept my situation. I decided to find a new therapist, and that is one of the best things I have ever done. I am not "cured" but I am doing a lot better than the old therapists predicted.
My new therapist said to me: When people tell you that your situation is hopeless you have two choices: You can say: "Yes, they are right, I will never get better, I might as well give up" or you can say: "They might think that my situation is hopeless, but I am going to prove that they are wrong" I want to choose the second option!
