I mean going way back to when you were a child what is the first thing you remember? Mine is a memory of the living room of our apartment in Skokie Illinois (a suburb of Chicago) Mom was ironing on one side of the room and I was playing with my father's army uniform. It is like a movie for me, I remember 2 or 3 minutes of the scene. It is my earliest memory I was most like 3 years old. How about you, what is your earliest childhood memory?

I recall how bright the light was right above my head but how dim the rest of the room was. How a lady came in, I think she was a nurse and she brought me a clown. I don't have the clown anymore, and I am not sure what happened to it. I know my grandmother sat beside me a lot of the time and I think my mom was there when she could be. I was around 3 years old and I had meningitis.

@DocAndersen I can also vaguely recall being a little girl and not feeling quite right. I was in the hallway in an apartment my parents had. I am not sure if that was before or after the visit to the hospital. I think it was before but I could be wrong. I was too young to remember how scared I really was atleast. I developed Epilepy as a result of the meningitis but I grew out of the epilepsy when I turned 18.

Moving to my new house when I was about 5 in about 1967 - seeing that we had a back garden to play in was a very happy moment

That is so cool, funny we moved to a house in 1968 and I remember thinking it was cool to have a backyard. Then my dad said, you get to mow it! :-(

The oldest memory I have is of me crawling behind a couch and screaming ,like in terror hiding from my grandma and mom. I told my mom I remembered that and she was in shock that I remembered it. I don't know for sure how old I was except that I was under two. I had a reaction to cough medication that had an ingredient that I am apparently allergic to.

I am not sure if it is my earliest memory, but I do remember a light earthquake when I was little. So scary.

I remember very well, I was 2 years old, mom had hired a new maid, I came out of my bedroom, she told to the maid "this is my daughter, her younger brother is still sleeping". As for you, it's like a short movie.

I think that I was 3 or 4. I was playing with the girl from the neighbor house. We were alone in the room and we decided to empty every closet in the room. We used a chair but we couldn't reach the top shelves. We threw the things that we could reach in a huge pile on the floor. We thought that it was a fun game, but my mother had a different opinion when she saw the mess that we had made
