Do dreams come true?

When I was younger, I used to be so amazed by the shows that I used to watch on tv. In Latin America soap operas have always been huge and likeable by most people. I dare to say that 8 in 10 people watch Telenovelas which translates soap opera to English. It is so great when you see a character that gets people's attention and all the controversy it can cause to everybody. Whenever I watched a bad guy being played by a good actor I instantly said that I was that guy. I always loved bad dudes characters, don't know why, maybe it is that I never get to be a bad guy in real life. In fact my biggest dream when I was younger was to become an actor, and being able to portrait a role on the screen, however I haven't done it yet. I wonder, Are you currently doing that you said you'd be doing at this age when you were younger? Did your dream come true? Photography courtesy of Google Image.

Oh @Courage7 it'd be a great idea, let's see if I can make it happen. In the meantime I still work for my dreams. Doesn't matter what we end up doing as adults, at the end of the day being happy is all that matters!

Oh no! Absolutely not. I wanted to become an architect and interior designer, but my parents were against, I did something totally different.

@jvicentevalera My times were different and when it was time to go to college it was the 1968, you surely know about the students revolts of those times. My parents knew that the University of Architecture was the most dangerous in those times and they fared for my safety. Anyway, as the parents pay I think they still have the right to discuss this matter with their children.

@LadyDuck Why were your parents against you following your dreams? I don't know what happens to parents who believe that what they choose for their children is the best choice, when it is up to them to decide what to study, right? Same happened to my best friend, he wanted to study lyrical singing but his mom was against his choice, however he did not give a damn and pursued his dream. His mom still pissed off LOL

@LadyDuck Now I got you Anna, if they put their money on it, it was almost difficult for you to express yourself when it comes to studying what you really wanted to.

Aww Courtney thank you so much for such great comment. In fact I haven't given up on the idea of becoming an actor one day, I am still young, I'm 26 turning 27 this year. Let's see what happens. It might be amusing to play a role. It doesn't matter whether a soap opera, movie or theater actor. We'll see. By the way are you currently doing what you said you'd be doing now at this age?

@jvicentevalera That is good that you haven't given up! And it can definitely still happen for you :) Sounds great to be in any of those options! Well, I used to want to be a singer or dancer when I grew up....and I am neither. lol

@MommyOfEli2013 Thank you Courtney. I think you can sing but you're ashamed of doing it lol, on the other hand, you can also become a dancer, you can dance at home when you're alone that might count as practicing!

@CaptAlbertWhisker I admire you. You know soon, I will be moving out soon, and I guess I will be doing something different from I wanna be doing, but you know getting started isn't easy and more when you're in a foreign country so put up with that while you're still waiting on your citizenship, or your document.

Soap operas are a dying media these days in the U.S., and most of the spanish ones I see are almost to the point of being comical even if they are not trying to be. They are actually quite HILARIOUS. As for my dreams, I always wanted to be a bestselling author. But I also wanted to be a millionaire. I became neither. lol

@jvicentevalera It is funny to us Americans sometimes when we see 'foreign' shows or movies. They always seem behind the times. Fashions are like that too. We laugh at Europeans who still turn their collars up. That was cool here back in the 70s but they still do it there like it is cool now. But it is what it is. As for posting and making pennies here on MyLot, I do my best to get what I can here.

I agree with you on soap operas dying these days in the US, I mean you guys are not into them, and I understand that. I guess it's because you guys like watching other kinds of shows like series. I wonder Did you ever get to watch at least one episode of a soap opera Jim? Regarding you not being able to achieve your dreams yet, I say there is always myLot so you can post one of your most creative text over here and it might not give you million dollars as you might want to, but at least you might get a few more pennies than you are used to. Why not?

My dreams never turn into reality. My childhood dream is to become a teacher, probably primary or secondary teacher. I did not dream of what subject to teach. However, my parents told me that getting into government university and successfully getting teaching degree may not feasible due to race issue in course allocation thus I diverted my route. I also dream of become a cabin crew seeing that the airline industry is booming and have the opportunity to travel to the destinations that the company fly to for free and other benefits too. Yet, I am not tall enough and my appearance is not fit enough to fulfil the minimum requirements. So, my dream now is to get a stable job and yet discovering it.

Oh Alvin you have good dreams over there. In my opinion you should not give up on your dreams due to what your parents might say. At the end of the day you came to life to pursue what you think is right for you, not what everybody else says. I say that you can be a teacher, I mean you could teach people how to speak English, or something else that you are skilled! In fact I buy you the idea of becoming a cabin crew for international flights all over thew world, It must be exciting getting to talk to people from other countries and serve them. That sounds terrific!

@Acefun Now I understand it all, thanks for clearing that up for me. My dream career was to become a manager one day. Once the years passed I didn't like to be doing all the numbers and all the stress while the boss was happy in his fabulous office while I was full with overwork. So I gotta say that more than a dream career I wanna manage my own enterprise one day, and not somebody else's. In addition I gotta say that I wanted to be an actor eventually.

@jvicentevalera I agree with you too for the two side of the career paths. However, to be qualified to teach English, the teacher need to have qualification from TESOL, TESL or TEFL. However, my qualification is in different path and my English level is unable to reach the professional level to teach people (except the student want to learn broken English that might ruin their learning time ). For the service industry, companies are tend to employ more female candidates instead of male candidates. Thus supply of male workers is more than demand thus competition is high and can be replaced by younger candidates too. However, I know some airlines are paying considerable high salary (part of the reason is exchange rate differences and tax waived for the base country and for my country - probably apply the same to certain countries too). Yet, their candidate selections process is tough based on review from the website by those candidates. They are also other factors need to consider too. Nonetheless, I cannot meet the minimum high requirement. so there is no hope on it. All in all, my career path now is diverted from the above two dream thus I will be amazed for those people who enjoy working in those industry and especially already served the companies for a number of years. What is your dream career about?
