Be a Responsible Pet Owner

I know some people cannot bring their dogs inside all the time. But when the weather is so frigid outside, if you are going to have an animal, you cannot leave them outside. They will freeze to death. I could hear a neighbor's dog (not sure which one) barking most of the night. It was a very restless night as I wanted to go get the dog and bring him inside. Maybe he wasn't barking because it was cold, but what if he was. I know, none of my business but that sort of thing really bothers me. I am not calling animal control unless I can see animal abuse. But if I could have seen an animal outside last night I would have done something. I have a big heart when it comes to animals. Maybe tonight will be quieter for me and that dog. I hope the dog can find shelter, if that was the problem. Do you have similar experiences? Have you called animal control?

Unfortunately in my country animal control neither exist nor works properly. I feel the same way when it comes to animals, they deserve so much respect from us humans. I can't stand people who mistreat such valuable living being. I don't have pets cause my mother doesn't allow me to, however If I had one, I would definitely make sure it has the proper attention from me. I hope that dog wasn't barking because it was freezing :(

It is totally unfair to the animal. Hopefully the dog is ok.

@CarolDM Yeah hopefully. If you find out that the dog is in danger or mistreated, please call animal control.

Here people generally keep their dogs inside when it is cold. Our winters are very cold, and it definitely wouldn't be a good idea to keep dogs outside. If I experienced the same things as you it would also bother me. I love animals.

@CarolDM Some people aren't responsible pet owners, and it makes me very sad to see that. The opposite can also be a problem - people who leave their pets in a hot car during the summer.

@CarolDM And it's sad that here animals are not considered very important. They think that dogs and cats can stay outside. They think that animals are made to stay outside.

I agree, they shouldn't be outside when it's cold....that could have a very bad outcome. I wouldn't leave them out in extreme heat either. Hope tonight will be more calm and quiet for you

I agree, there is no reason to treat your pets any differently from any other family member.

I think I would have called the police. I also have a big heart when it comes to animals.
