Ice Cream and Dressing

No, not together. Though I have put together some odd foods before and were pretty tasty. I decided dinner would be Rocky Road ice cream. I have not eaten a bowl of this creamy, nutty, marshmallow and chocolate goodness in a year and darn it, I wanted it. I do not feel guilty nor that I blew my efforts. Tomorrow, I will be on track with healthy eating but after a day of mudding in my cabin, laundry and other chores, it was the perfect treat and relaxation. I didn't get a huge bowl, just a serving and it was the perfect amount. Something weird is going on with my taste buds lately. I used to enjoy ranch dressing, thousand island, Italian and Blue Cheese but now don't like them much. I want to make my own dressings but not sure what to mix up. I do like French, Russian and avocado. What's for your dinner and do you have an easy salad dressing recipe?

I usually have oil and vinegar dressings with some honey. Last night I didn’t use any dressing on my salad and it tasted great. When I eat out, I order blue cheese dressing. Tonight we had cod crusted with Parmesan cheese and steamed broccoli.

I haven't tried the oil and vinegar with honey. I have the ingredients so will give it ago tomorrow. Cod is so good. I had it yesterday lightly coated with diced pecans, Parmesan cheese and just a touch of milk to hold it on. With it was a nice crunchy, colorful, shredded cabbage salad. The dressing was a Tbsp of French diluted with a tsp of soy milk.

I usually add balsamico vinegar and olive oil to my salad, and some lemon juice, salt and pepper. I'm going to try something new for dinner, not sure what though!

I like to dip hard bread in balsamic vinegar. I'll try this one for a dressing too.

I always make my own dressing, which one depends which kind of salad I need to season. I made a Mexican dinner yesterday, quesadillas and guacamole, home made tortillas.

@JudyEv I know! I know it's up there and I'll be going up. Maybe just a tiny bit later. I'll trade my dinner again and take my vitamins.

It was so good! I am going to try to keep on the healthy side the rest of the week and have more Saturday. It's not easy but I put it in my daughter's freezer upstairs so I can't just give in. those stairs are steep so I'll give pause before going up.

I use a bit of olive oil on some salads and will have to try adding some pepper and maybe a few other spices. I use more butter lettuce lately so don't need much or any dressing but the other types of lettuce like romaine and iceburg, I need something.

@responsiveme I never heard of mustard oil. I'll have to look for it. I visit a shop occasionally that has ethnic fare.

I enjoy having an avocado with blue cheese dressing. Sometimes I like making sour cream dressings. Gobs of sour cream, a pinch of salt, grated fresh pepper, lots of dills and a dab of mayo. Mix together and I usually use it for cucumber salad.

I tried making a cilantro dressing before using ranch dressing from the store and dried cilantro. It didn't mix as well as I hoped. I decided later had I tried putting it into the blender it probably would have worked much better. Other than packaged dressings I've not tried to make any others. I'm glad you didn't put any dressing on that ice cream.

Salad dressing can be fancy or simple or sometimes the salad stands on it own without dressing. Especially if the salad has cheese in it, then it doesn't need extra.

If I use butter lettuce, I don't add dressing. It has it's own distinct taste I like. I always add cheese to my salads.

I usually do not make my own dressings but blue cheese is my favorite. If I do it is oil and vinegar with Italian seasonings. Hope you find something you like Loretta. Wonder why your taste has changed.

It's just the craziest thing. I have always like ranch and thought maybe the brand changed but nope. I tried others and then found blue cheese, thousand island and Italian wasn't the same. Maybe if I make my own with the oil, vinegar and a packet of seasoning.

I haven't had rocky road ice cream in several years. I love it. The memory and the taste buds don't forget the taste. The only dressing I like is Ranch. It took me many years just to eat a salad as I never liked lettuce growing up. It became easier when I found I liked ranch dressing. I'm afraid I might have overwhelmed the salad at first, drenching every lettuce leaf with it so I wouldn't taste the lettuce itself. I hope you find a good dressing recipe.

Not decided yet about dinner. I love ice cream but not as a dinner. After an hour I have to take my daughter to school.
