Its National Fig Newton Day

United States
January 16, 2019 9:33am CST
Do you like Fig Newtons? If you do, today is the day to celebrate! I like Fig Newtons but my mom absolutely loved them. Every week when we did the grocery shopping a box of Fig Newtons was on the list. Personally I'd rather have a chocolate chip cookie but I wouldn't turn down a Newton if you offered me one. Happy Fig Newton Day!

Any kin to Sir Isaac Newton? I've never been a fan of Fig Newtons. My dad did love them, though.

Maybe they were just more popular in our parents generation?

I'm sure they're full of sugar but don't know if they are any worse than any other cookie. I think with Newtons you either like them or hate them

They are okay. I will eat them but they are not a favorite. My mom and dad loved them too. They bought them every time they went grocery shopping.

Love them too. I make the fig paste that is the filling, I just gotta learn to make the cookie outside. Awesome day to celebrate, with a newton.

What is fig newton? I heard this name for the first time. So having no idea don't want to tell something wrong about this.

They're called Arnotts Spicy Fruit Rolls here but most people say 'the ones that look like little pillows'. I like them but never buy them.

I'm with you Marilyn! Although I would not turn down a fig newton, I'd prefer a chocolate chip. Fun fact- The pastries (cookies) are named after the town of Newton, Massachusetts.
