This is getting to be a habit

This must be the fourth time in five days that I’ve baked or made stuff. And I'm always telling people that I don't cook. I hope making stuff doesn’t become a habit.
We have a house concert on Saturday so I’ve made three lots of chocolate apricot slice to put out at interval. Then I made a lemon lattice slice as I love it. But this one I’ll share with our guests. Two musicians and my brother-in-law and his wife are sleeping here and often a few extras come up to the house for coffee after the concert. The musicians never go straight to bed as they need time to unwind so having a few extra gives them someone to talk to other than Vince and I.
Then I made myself rice pudding in a rice cooker that was given to us. That’s all for me too as Vince doesn’t like rice pudding. And finally this morning I made some cheese straws as nibbles to have with drinks. But I think that is all I'll be doing for the moment although I’ll need to make some salads on Saturday.
It’s always a bit tricky. These musicians eat anything which is a godsend as many have all sorts of allergies or intolerances but some don’t like to eat before performing. That’s fine but it means they might need something after they’ve finished. So what do you give them at that point that is somewhat substantial? Usually we have a variety of hot savoury items.
However it seems to work out in the end whatever we do. At least we've never seen bad reviews about us.

If a habit turns out money-making... don’t break the habit!

@Ronrybs I know. It's seems a bit silly having a dedicated rice-cooker which is what my sister thought and how come it got given to me. It was a gift to her. We don't use it for boiled rice but it does make a great rice pudding. The long-grain rice doesn't seem ideal for puddings but in this cooker it cooks up nice and soft.

They are nice with drinks. They have cayenne pepper in them so are a bit 'hot'.

Sounds like there is food and music and everyone has a good time. Yes,I have seen people eat after they perform in case of a few of my friends

No, these are cheese straws. For these you need to add a dash of salt, pepper and cayenne pepper to 6 oz of plain flour. Rub 3 oz of margarine into the flour. Add 4 oz of grated cheese. Add a beaten egg yolk and perhaps a tiny bit of water to make a dough. Roll out to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into 'straws'. Twist each one and bake in a moderate oven till brown.

For someone who doesn't cook, to me that's a lot.

Cheese straws. Not familiar with them, although I'm sure that we have something similar here. They certainly look tasty!

It's pretty much flavoured pastry I guess. I twist them because I can never get them symmetrical. If they're twisted it doesn't matter that some are fat and some are thin. They are sold here as cheese sticks but there is only about 8 to a packet. However they are all the same size!
