I got into trouble when our guests chose music from youtube and danced away their blues but I got the blues when I got a warning from youtube when I uploaded videos of my party which had this music There was a copyright offence. But Youtube on the other hand also assured me nothing serious will happen as long as I do not mind those music owners monetizing on my videos. At the same time youtube has sent me a link that has countless music links which are free for upload. Here is that link of Youtube music library which is free for use
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

They are becoming finally serious about the respect of copyright. Now it's time they do the same with the images people post. I am glad that they did not lock your account.

It is the guests who picked that music but youtube Admin assured me on the contrary saying it is not serious and only if the owners get back should those vidoes be pulled down. I am fine with it . Here is a screen shot of the message I recd from youtube

@allknowing I am surprised, Auld Lang Synes is a Folk Music that is copyright free. May be this version is copyrighted. Here is a list of FREE Auld Lang Synes editions

even if its in the background being performed by a cover band or a radio, they will warn you or remove the audio from the video.

It has always been a mild alert. Obviously they want users to upload

@allknowing - but im sure they get a music rights payout if your videos were ever monetized.

All you have to do is say that the music is not your own and credit it to the actual artists. I think that would do the job.

I have a screen shot of what I received in @Anna 's box. You will see there was no trouble for me but what is important is their library from where we can get our music free.

They have not got back to me and so I do not think it is an issue to worry about.

There is no problem now but the only thing is if we upload videos of activity at a party with background msucis which is copyrighted we cannot make them public.
