What is your Phobia? Hereditary?

January 17, 2019 1:38pm CST
Do you have a phobia?? Is it due to a traumatising incident or have you always had them? I've been chatting with a friend of mine over our phobia towards heights and she told me her traumatising story that led to her fear of heights.. that made me wonder because I've never had a reason as to why I was terrified of being on high places like she was. I found out that some phobias can be hereditary where memories can be passed down through generations in DNA. Cool, right? So just wondering what are your phobias and where do the stem from?? Or are your phobias perhaps hereditary as well? :)

I believe that some phobias can happen due to trauma totally unrelated to the phobia for example. I have a couple of phobias or fears ..not sure if it is complete phobias.

i won't say what my phobias are-it's never a good idea to tell other people..but what i will say is there's one all the women on my mom's line have..it's almost like a genetic memory of something.

That is super duper cool!! I think you're the only person I know that has a genetic phobia like that and for the women only in your family?? Man, science is spooky-

I fear heights and dark, narrow spaces and also avoid masses of people. I've never had a negative experience concerning these phobias. They are also not hereditary. No idea where they come from.

It's odd because I can stand on the edge of a tall cliff and not feel any anxiety, yet I don't like climbing a ladder, or at least I used to hate it. I haven't climbed a ladder in years, and in general I'm more calm than I used to be. So it's possible that I no longer have a fear of climbing up ladders.

I have a fear of heights, but my worst fear is of bugs... mainly big palmetto roaches. I have always had this fear that many find amusing and don't understand. Butnutbis not hereditary nor did I suffer any trauma that led me to this fear. As far as fear of heights is concerned, U believe it is not the height that causes the fear but the fear of falling associated with heights.
