"Kidding" TV Series Review I usually don't watch new TV - but I couldn't resist the new Jim Carrey Comedy/Drama show called "Kidding". Sure, I liked some of his stuff when he was younger, but I have found the current Jim Carrey actually has a lot of depth as he ages. Enter "Kidding" - where Carrey plays an aging kid's TV show host named "Jeff Pickles". "Mr. Pickles Puppet Time" for the past 30 years has addressed different of kid's show issues like friendships, sharing, play time, imagination.... but with the death of his son and his marriage falling apart - Jeff Pickles wants to introduce darker topics on his kid's show, much to the distaste of his dad and the show's producer played by Frank Langella. Also a delightful surprise - Katherine Keener (who was in a movie about kid's shows called "death to smoochy", and she was in "S1m0ne" with Al Pacino) is cast as the show's puppet designer and sister to the Jeff Pickles character. The show has a lot of contrasts - like the bright happy sets and puppets with the darker, grown up themes. Jeff tries to navigate being newly single - and dating along with being a celebrity and having his face on a ton of products. The cast is brilliant, and the sets are amazing. I really enjoyed the series even though it gets somewhat dark it is still thought provoking - and I will include a link to a video - it is Jim Carrey speaking to college graduates about pursuing dreams. Carrey is a surprisingly bright and motivational individual in spite of being someone who used to make a name for himself by making faces. (Remember "The Mask" - anyone?) Jim Carrey being inspiring:

I've liked some of the things he's been in....so may have to check this out if it comes on Hulu or Netflix since I don't have cable.

Oh yeah! This one is on Amazon Prime, and you need the HBO package thing.... on top of that. However you can sign up for a free week preview of HBO - that's how I did it

@MommyOfEli2013 I know, right. I don't like that there are so many different shows on so many different services like that

@amadeo Seems taste in comedy changes rapidly. I relate best with the comedy films of the 80s and 90s. The new comedy... I usually don't understand....

I remember The Mask but I prefer to remember The Truman Show. This sounds like a good one. Is it on NetFlix?

@FayeHazel It is my favorite out of all his work. I have Amazon Prime but when I went to use it one day, I discovered that everything I wanted to watch involved paying more for. I got upset and have never tried it again. There are things on it I wouldn't mind watching but I can't get past not being able to see what I want the most without paying more.

Oh "Truman Show" hadn't thought of that one for a bit, I liked that one, too. Not on Netflix, alas - Amazon Prime has it , which you need the HBO subscription on top of - though there is a free trial for that.... that's what I did :-D

I've seen the mask three times. Ace Ventura probably five and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, twice. I usually don't watch movies more than once but some just are so entertaining, I'll watch again at a future time. He is an extremely talented actor.

@FayeHazel Very talented. I watched one last year that was serious but I can't remember the name. It was different seeing him serious.

I know, some movies are just so good that they need watching again. He's really talented, and surprisingly - he can play serious parts and funny

@noni1959 Hm, I wonder if it was "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", or "23"... he's serious in those, it's so odd but it oddly works

Ah, I admit I didn't like his ultra-wacky humor. Though dark-Carrey is pretty cool.
