Trump cancels Pelosi's trip to Brussels and Afghanistan

Trump decided to "get back" at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for un-inviting him from giving his State of the Union address until the government is reopened today by cancelling her planned trip to Brussels and to visit troops in Afghanistan. He said that it was important for her to be in Washington to negotiate and join the "Strong Southern Border initiative" but that she was free to fly commercially if she wanted. (into a war zone ) The news was delivered one hour before she was due to leave for the airport. I think Trump thought that this move would make him somehow look strong and powerful but the reality is all it did was make him look like a big baby. Some side notes: Cabinet members including Steve Mnuchin as well as Jared and Ivanka are still planning to go to Switzerland on Tuesday despite the shutdown and Melania is flying to Mar-A-Lago on military transport at this very moment. Seems that Trump is withholding military transport only from Nancy Pelosi out of spite.

In all my life I have never heard of worse kindergarten fights between a US President and other people. it is such a shame that I do not even want to follow the subject. I just wonder if there is a way to throw him or, at least, not reelect him?

My personal opinion - none of them should be traveling anywhere OR getting paid until they can get this stuff sorted out and end the shut down.

It is amazing to me that Melania would go to Florida again tonight and that the Davos trip is still on.

She didn't technically un-invite him, she merely suggested other means of delivering the address OR, wonder of wonders, re-opening the government. Security is a big concern if he plans to give the address as normal, or so I've heard. I've really got to keep up with everything going on up there, but then ten new things happen every day in this administration.

Well she did for the date that was planned. He can't just show up without her invitation. You are right, though, she suggested a later date when the government is open again or to submit his update in writing.

@NJChicaa I just think it's really sad the way he thought he was "getting back at her". We aren't in Kindergarten anymore.
