All systems go today

Tomorrow is our house concert which is a bit of a misnomer for starters as it is held outside. Today we need to put up the big lights which light up the stage. We also have two which shine up into the trees and a laser light machine thing which sits on the roof of the Shack and shines twinkly coloured lights in the trees. It’s supposed to be really hot here today so we’re going to get going early.
Once the lights are up we will go to town and do some shopping. There will be six of us for dinner although often the musicians only have a light meal. We eat about 5.30pm and people often start arriving with their picnics at around 6 or a bit later. Once the people start arriving, hopefully the kangaroos will vacate the area where the people sit.
In the morning Vince will run over the area with the ride-on mower, mainly to remove the leaves and hopefully the roo poo. Then we can set up the tables for the tea and coffee that we serve at interval.
A lot of things can’t be done till the last minute but we do what we can ahead of time.
But hopefully I’ll be back here on and off.

I admire how the two of you handle this In my case that party I had was taken care of by caterers - food, buffet table and seating arrangements. Here in India we always get help -not something to be proud of

@JudyEv There is another thing I have noticed. When guests arrive here we have to take care of every detail but your guests help themselves.

@allknowing They bring chairs and picnics and set themselves up on the grass. We look after the musicians. There is a break halfway through the concert and we serve tea and coffee (and slice) but again they line up and get their own from urns, etc.

@sunrisefan We had a very light shower yesterday. It was a total surprise as the forecast said fine and hot. Sometimes they get it wrong, don't they?

Yes, that is Vince. I know 18 acres seems a lot to some people but Australia is a big country with a lot of land.

It about 33F outside but quite nice inside. I'll draw the curtains closed in a minute to try and keep the house cool.

We have a slow spot at the moment. We've put the tables out for the supper and all the twinkly lights to the toilets, etc. Soon we'll carve up the meat and finish off the salads then settle down to wait for the musos to arrive.
