How to describe the legacy that Mary Oliver left the world? Many folks will say who? And indeed I heard the "Who Who!" of an owl as I read her words. Mary Oliver won the Pulitzer prize for her poetry. She died today. Cancer robbed the world of genteel beauty. Mary's work remains but still, her voice will never give more. Mary was a mentor; someone to aspire to as I wandered my own world. I walk and search and feel and at times know the freedom fresh in a Canada goose's flight or perhaps a Great Blue heron's squawk. Thank you, Mary. I never had the miracle of meeting you and yet I did.

What is your favorite poem by Mary Lenore? RIP Mary I saw the headline but none of her poems came to mind as yet. That dang cancer.

@Courage7 Truth? At this point nothing comes to mind. Just the feeling of a seminar, male teacher up front reading and guiding, the mountain firs outside the window reminding me that I was not home.

Sad but she left something behind for the world to know her, something wonderful.

I'm familiar with her work, and didn't realize she passed away. Her work will live on.

I did read of her passing. Her Pulitzer was for "American Primitive."

I don't know her work but she was obviously well-loved and well-known in many circles.
