How to describe the legacy that Mary Oliver left the world? Many folks will say who? And indeed I heard the "Who Who!" of an owl as I read her words. Mary Oliver won the Pulitzer prize for her poetry. She died today. Cancer robbed the world of genteel beauty.
Mary's work remains but still, her voice will never give more. Mary was a mentor; someone to aspire to as I wandered my own world. I walk and search and feel and at times know the freedom fresh in a Canada goose's flight or perhaps a Great Blue heron's squawk.
Thank you, Mary. I never had the miracle of meeting you and yet I did.

Sad but she left something behind for the world to know her, something wonderful.

@andriaperry True. Many folks use her work as a tool in poetry seminars.

I did read of her passing. Her Pulitzer was for "American Primitive."
