Lift... By chance

Today, my cousin sister and I were coming via car. We had gone on a long drive in the afternoon and had to cross a high way and she had to give lift to 2 people, who, BY CHANCE, happened to be her school mates whom she had not met for many years.. Her friend's car got punctured and I don't know they (she and her husband) couldn't get any help.. Anyways, we gave them a lift and we had a nice time chatting about childhood days.. I was in the same school as theirs' but different grade/class... Will you ever give a lift to a stranger on a highway?

It depends on what my "gut instinct" says about them. We help sometimes. We have had people help us.

@Sheali This is a tough question. Like I would love to help them but I'm a little cautious with people I don't know. I would never ignore because I don't want to help but I do worry about who is out there. I've just had a history of people hurting me who I did know so I'm alert with people I don't know. It's a tough thing to do when helping strangers because you never know if they truly need help or looking for something else.

What is said if exactly what I think.. Sometimes, not while giving a lift, it has happened that people took help simply because they were too idle to do that themselves and didn't actually need help.. I got to know later from others.. So there are many tricky situations where you don't know if people actually need help or they are taking advantage of your helping nature..

No I do not give rides to strangers. I am afraid they might kill me and steal my car.

I think everybody who ever hitch-hiked will do this. --- You may like to read this post:

That is sensible enough.. Even here it is not advisable.. But some people give lifts depending on the situation
