How time flies. Hard to believe these film titles are now two decades old. Many myLot members were just kids then. 21 movies topped the $100 million mark which used to be the benchmark for success. Today the magic number is more like $500 million and not one 1999 release achieved that level. “Stuart Little” ($140,120,000): The live action/animation adaption of E.B. White’s family classic earned a ton. A sequel followed in 2002. “Runaway Bride” ($152,260,000): The romance comedy reunited “Pretty Woman” stars Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Roberts was the year’s #1 box office star as “Notting Hill” was also 1999. “The Mummy” ($155,280,000): The reboot of the horror classic and its two sequels were critically panned but audiences ate it up. “Big Daddy” ($162,860,000): Remember when Adam Sandler was a big movie star? “Tarzan” ($170,610,000): No year is complete without a monster Disney animated hit. “The Matrix ($171,420,000): The Matrix trilogy has its loyal fan following. “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me ($206,000,000): Remember when Austin Powers was a big deal? This sequel earned four times the amount of the original. Whatever happened to Mike Myers after voicing ”Shrek”? “Toy Story 2” ($244,420,000): No year is complete without a monster Pixar hit. “The Sixth Sense” ($293,450,000): Do you see dead people? The producers saw nothing but money. “Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace” ($431,100,000): Slap the name “Star Wars” on anything and it will make money. It should be noted #11 “The Blair Witch Project” ($138,620,000) was a surprise low budget hit starting the found footage genre. How many of these movies have you seen?

I saw all of those. I remember when my youngest and I watched the Blair Witch Project, we were spooked a little and we don't spook easy. I watched it again a few years later wondering why in the heck I was back then.
